Great card and plenty of competitive races , think exotics will pay well to those who manage to catch it

I agree; rain around, so don't think the 'jump and go' tactics of recently will pay off today - thoughts ....

R1: I agree with many that Black Egret should take some beating - I think the other 2 Rafeef first-timers will have to be quite good to beat BE.

R2: Open start to the BP; Gregarious Gal the right one on form, but drawn on the inside - so not sure where the best going will be down the straight; perhaps take note of how Sylvan Theater goes in the first; Princess Ilaria obvious chance, but also drawn towards the inside, so may be wise to include Efficient Trader and Splendid Season; seemingly some money around for the debutante Splendid Season - so probably worth throwing in as well

R3: Both Tarry fillies are making there seasonal debuts; for me I prefer Under Your Spell to Rain in Holland over the trip, but I think they both have their work cut out to beat Bon Vivant and Follow Me, who looks the best value by far at 8s

R4: Everything points to Feather Boa - has not run in the soft, but it seems to be drying out after some rain overnight, so 5/2 seems generous imo; stable mate Captain Peg biggest danger, but the draw is a negative; others that could upset if the two principles fall in a hole, are Gimme a Shot (isn't JP riding well? ), None Other and perhaps Typeset (based on trainer comments)

R5: Tough race to predict and a lot will depend on luck in running - many 'better' runners drawn poorly; Royal Victory probably the right one on form, but is of course a KZN visitor, so not sure how the travelling went; besides the ones at the top of the boards, I have respect for Laguna Verde (probably needed his last start) and Mercantour; Shoemaker a big reputation but of course drawn in the bush; Unzen won well last time, but also drawn wide, the list goes on .....

R6: Big sprint handicap; I'm trying to beat Far Away Winter; Constable, Vaseem and Sheela (may prefer the going on top) are my top 3; all of Sheela, Constable and Far Away Winter (to mention a few) will go very quick and may set up the race for Vaseem who is good value at 7s imo - not sure where all the hype for Now I Got You comes from - but stranger things have happened

R7: The big one on the day, and Safe Passage seems to have a lot going for him - may just be better over more ground these days, but racing fresh seems a worthy favorite; stable companion MK's Pride the biggest danger imo and together with the other stable mate Humdinger (very well handicapped here imo), should ensure a true-run race; 1600 probably a push for After the Rain; Bingwa and Pyromaniac (not a great draw) bigger dangers imo

R8: I think this can be narrowed down; not a lot to choose between the Pettigrew runners imo, while Pink Tourmaline must have a big chance as well

R9: Does seem to lie between Light of the Moon, Black Thorn and Raisethehalleluja, with Jaimala not without a chance; if Marchingontogether can repeat his last run, he must have a chance as well

R10: Open race imo to close; most of the ones in the betting closely matched - if I do end up in front by this stage, I might have a little stab at Imperial Master to close off a possible red-hot day for the Pettigrew yard

Enjoy B)

Well the good news is that the results can only get better.
100-1 first timer.
Did Spies ever bother to see this horse work?

I floated 6 and 12 in my quartet with all the other runners except this winner and had to go back to the race card to have a second look :S

But as you say, it can only get better lol:
