RACE 1: Maiden Handicap 1450m

#7 GREEN BUBBLES (6-1) has failed to show improvement after making a promising debut over this CD in a competitive maiden. Both her disappointing subsequent starts starts have been up the straight though, so reverting to a race around the bend, I expect her to find some form. She gets a good draw at 3 and the tongue tie goes on today after she was reported making breathing noises in a previous start. She gets in off a lowly mark of 66, so she’s first choice. I would prefer #4 UP THE IRISH (8-1) over a shorter trip (about 1200m) and she has a tricky draw of 8 to overcome, but off a mark of 70 she looks very competitive with 54,5kgs on her back and I make her a big runner. #1 SILK GARDEN (11-2) is a limited 4 year old with top weight, but the addition of blinkers and the 1 draw should bring her right into the contest. #3 OUTLAW (11-2) show relish this step up in trip and from a good draw she is competitive in this lineup. She finished just ahead of #7 last time, but she’s 5kgs worse off with that one now and that will make it tough for her.

#2 MISTY CLIFFS (8-10) looks to have a tough opening mark of 78 and on top of that she’s drawn 9, which drastically reduces her chances over this CD. I make her way too short in the market and I’M AGAINST HER.

I didn't really rate him early but now I think he is one of the most competent riders we have who always seems to ride a good race on whatever horse he's got.
I try not to leave him out of anything these days.
Him and Ryan Munger I hope go on to become the best we have.
