Re: Turffontein, Saturday 12 March
3 years 3 months agoRight... think I've got it now, some silly mistakes but all the winners were legit and my losses deserved. Ready for Sunday.
Not even 1% of the pick 6 and you reckon all the winners where legit?
Leo if you study long enough and far back in the form enough you might find some sort of reason why the horse won.
Consistency should be the name of the game but the results just show how inconsistent our horses are.
Form turnarounds of note is not why we play the horses and buy the form book.Sure you could make a point about some not liking the blinkers, the going or the distance but when not a soul gets a piece of the pick 6 then surely a crystal ball was needed.
Like I said before bad horses are inconsistent horses and the overall quality we have running in SA at the moment must be at an all time low.

I respectfully disagree Durbs...I had I think 9 winners in a row before yesterday. SA racing I think is legit and in great shape. I was also referring to the winners in the races I quoted, cannot vouch for the others. Remember I don't play maidens and I am strictly speaking only about handicaps, therefore exotics like a pick 6 I find utterly silly anyways. not surprised people didn't pick it. It is 100% pure and simple math that you cannot make a consistent living punting exotics. If folks do it purely for a gamble or fun, by all means, but if you are serious about bringing in consistent money there is zero way...it is like someone who believes the slots at Monte Casino will net them a monthly salary. I neglected the draws and historic draws in my study yesterday as I cracked my first beer too early, and I never ever punt on Saturdays anyways. So I am 100% confident I stepped in to the trap and can see it crystal clear. No historic blinkers info or horses not liking surface etc. It is piss easy to find winners if you are patient and know how to read form. There is at least one horse a day most of the time...and then you skip maybe a day every week, sometimes two days.

You two are debating as if one of you are right and one is wrong.
If everyone here thought the same then every race would have 1/10 favourites with all the money going on the collective thought.

No Thor, you too are missing the point. It is not about a selection of a horse, but about the perceived idea that we as punters are forever doomed in SA. I can tell you exhuberantly we are not. It is not a debate for me whatsoever. 99.9% of handicaps are pickable (or should be left). I am not entirely there yet, but I honestly believe it is mostly, tremendously above board. There are no rubbish horses and con-artsists. From time to time an inexplicable winner surfaces but it is the utmost rarity. That, I am not debating I know it whole heartedly and blame only myself for a loss (99% of the time)... Once you realise that, you start learning and making money. When you stop looking at rubbish like pedigree and move past your human wishful thinking, and mastering the indicators and statistics on the cards, you are well on your way to cashing in. Study the form, old form from last year, ancient form from years before, UK form HK form. Soon you will be embarrassed by how stupid you were when you thought you had it in the pocket. The form is a goldmine of info. We get it wrong but we arent being shafted. That is my point and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I am right. I also know for a fact I will make more money this month than the collective ABC. Not because they can't spot a winner better than me, but they punt losers better than me. That is the key to making money at horse racing. This Turffontein card was an embrrassment to me, not because it is public, but because deep down inside I was a gambler for a day which is the fastest way to blame the powers at be. I am also not saying this to protect anybody, but to help a few step up from the stupid ladder. It is extremely easy to understand but it takes many, decades, lifetimes often. They will be punting quartets until they die and blame everyone but themselves.
