In my humble opinion, went a little too early into the head / cross wind...

And that's why Gavin Lerena's ride on Kommetdieding was so good...just sat on the horse for about 100m longer and had enough in the finish...

Of course he didn't, looking around like he was looking for an empty parking space. The only place he should have been worrying about Captains Ransom should have been after the finish line. Don't tell me the horse would have benefited from her pilot looking backward. The stipes should be having a word, if they can call you in for not riding out to the finish they can call you in to explain why you more interested in whats behind you than getting down and trying to win the race. Whether he would have got beat regardless is mute.
