TURFFONTEIN STANDSIDE SATURDAY NOVEMBER 13 FOR GUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTIONS

R1

Preview: KITE SURFER (2) is by Bold Silvano and is a full-sister to Miss Boomerang who won on debut over this course and distance by 4,50 lengths. VASILIKOS (4) is by Querari and is a half-brother to five-time winner Seven Patriots. MISS COOL (9) is by What A Winter out of a Miesque's Approval mare who finished second in her second start over 1600m, which proved to be her last start. FENNEC FOX (7) has been priced up favourite being by What A Winter out of a one-time winning Trippi mare over 1600m and thus a half-sister to Arctic Skyline, who has some useful form, but a low draw might be against her. ABOVE THE WORLD (5) is by Captain Of All and is a full-sister to What You Are who showed precocity when third on debut over 800m before winning over 1000m two runs later. EMIRATE GINA (6) is by Visionaire out of Listed winner Dubai Gina. (David Thiselton 2-4-9-7-5-6)

R2

Preview: JET BLAST (11) made a fine debut over this course and distance behind a fair sort and is drawn towards the standside which is the right side to be. CARL VINSON (6) is by Dynasty and is a half-brother to the like of Grade 1 winner The Hangman and to Graded winner Trip To Heaven. CASTLE OF GLASS (7) made a fair debut and could improve from a favourable draw being by Querari out of the smart Grade 2-winning Count Dubois sprinter Fairyinthewoods and being a half-brother to three-time winning sprinter Lightheartedand. CHYAVANA (8 ) is interesting on debut being by Flower Alley out of Grade 2 Debutante winner (1200m) Cosmic Light. THE GATHERING (14) is by Silvano out of an unraced Antonius Pius mare who was a half-sister to Grade 2 Victory Moon winner Zambucca. (David Thiselton 11-6-7-8-14)

R3

Preview: CHERINGOMA (5) stayed on well last time for second over this trip and has a fair draw. CONSTANTIA HAZE (2) has shown enough to be able to place here. LABEL QUEEN (8 ) is by Flower Alley out of a High Chaparal mare who won once over 2000m and she is drawn in pole on debut with Lerena up. SACRED VALLEY (9) was stubborn and green on debut and could improve. BEIJING EXPRESS (1) is by Lateral out of a twice-winning Silvano mare from 1600m to 1800m. (David Thiselton 5-2-8-9-1)

R4

Preview: LEESON (10) has scope for improvement and was a touch unlucky last time when finishing well over this trip so he is the one to bat but does have a tough draw to overcome. QUIET REBELLION (13) ran a good third on debut and is a contender from pole position. CORAPI (4) has run two fair seconds and can still improve. (David Thiselton 10-13-4)

R5

Preview: CLAFOUTIS (7) is progressive and has a fine turn of foot so can go close despite a wide draw. SPRINKLES (5) finished with long strides last time and is another progressive sort and she can be involved despite a tricky draw of six. FOLLOW ME (2) will appreciate the step up in trip and on formlines has a shout. MARIGOLD HOTEL (1) was 2,25 lengths clear of Follow Me in the Starling Stakes over 1450m last time but the latter likely needed it. WISTERIA AVENUE (6) is talented and will be dangerous from the front in this smallish field as she has a good turn of foot. (David Thiselton 7-5-2-1-6)

R6

Preview: MAJESTIC MOZART (3) is just behind the best in Cape Town and will be fit from recent runs so can win this despite officially being 2.5kg under sufferance with the best weighted Lemon Delight and having to contend with a wide draw. LEMON DELIGHT (6) has a plum draw and brings some useful Cape Town form but hasn't run since July and still has to prove he stays this trip. LEOPOLD (2) won well over this trip last time and if dropped out from a high draw can run on strongly again. (David Thiselton 3-6-2)

R7

Preview: PERFECT WITNESS (4) ran a good second to a talented sort last time and can go one better this time. MISS ELEGANCE (1) disappointed last time in a Grade 3 Handicap over 1800m but should appreciate the step down in trip. QUERARI FERRARI (3) is a big horse who will relish the switch to the Standside track although she does have to make up 6,75 lengths on Perfect Witness. (David Thiselton 4-1-3)

R8

Preview: RAINY SEASON (7) is 4kg better off with Undeux Trois for a 2,60 length beating over this trip so could be the one to beat carrying just 52kg. UNDEUX TROIS (5) has relished the step up to staying trips and is officially the joint best weighted horse although she does have a tricky draw. WHITE FANG (2) should make a bold bid from pole position. BARAK (3) is well drawn and is a consistent stayer. TRAVELING WILBURY (4) is the joint best in at the weights and stayed on over 2200m last time for second so should enjoy this trip. (David Thiselton 7-5-2-3-4)

R9

Preview: QUANTUM KING (3) is drawn on the right side and will enjoy this trip. FREEE FROM DESIRE (1) is in good form and can handle topweight from a nice high draw. BALOUCHI (5) could well appreciate the step down in trip but his low draw is a bit of a concern although he could use his pace to overcome it. (David Thiselton 3-1-5)

Elvis and myself have a share in Aloe Ha - we are still guessing, but hopefully looking for this trip and perhaps further - does look hard to beat the hottie, but maybe she can place.

I like Miss Elegance in the 7th and I think that Balouchi will make them run in the last

Enjoy B)
