Frodo's suggestion- Early start for Race Meetings

3 years 7 months ago
#828838
The operate's probably read Frodo's comment on ABC about the concern of lighting and his suggestion on an early start to race meetings.

TAB News
Phumelela is going to trial earlier starting times for race meetings on the Highveld during summer with a view to reducing the number of races cancelled because of traditional late-afternoon thunderstorms in the region.

8 NOV 2021
The impact on TAB pools of race meetings starting and finishing earlier will be carefully monitored during the trial period to ascertain whether such timeframes suit the needs of TAB customers.

The trial will begin with the race meeting at the Vaal on Thursday 18 November. The first race will go off at 11:00 with the ninth and last race at 15:35, after which TAB will operate betting pools on races in the UK and at Meydan in Dubai.

Can't take all the credit for this common sense 'trial' - as many on here and other publications suggested similar solutions; of course one could still have thunderstorms at midday - but at least more meetings should be be concluded

Common sense prevails at last it's only taken them 15 years to listen... Of course if the pools are shite they will revert

I heard a whatsapp note from a trainer last week when they announced this meeting asking for everyone to place a bet on the tote

In the early 90’s we used to have breakfast meetings which started at I think 10:00. Who remembers them?

I think pools will improve when punters can see a higher probability of all the carded races being run and when form, largely, holds up with questions being asked and fines / suspensions being meted out for severe or continuous deviations...only insiders benefit from in-and-out running and allows the hard-earned money of money to land in the hands of the few...

And horses should not allowed to run in races that is not within reason of their optimum distance...prepping in a race means horse is not at optimum fitness to give off best effort...

Do I assume that the earlier times will also be applicable to the Sumner Cup meeting?

I think only allowing a trainer one entry per race will stop the bullshit of deceit that is prevalent in racing..especially PE ...as it is in Capetown and Durban from time to time...
Perhaps in Grade1, 2 and 3 races 2 horses per entry per race... just a thought..

A trainer has several owners. Owners are kings, trainers are just serfs.

And what about the other trainers owners and jockeys?Have they also decided to let the 50-1 stalemate of the favorite win without even having a bet so the horse shortens....

100%

Trainers talk the talk when it comes to the tote, but are the first ones to run to the Open Bet when they are going for their Xmas money... Do you think their 3rd strings are left out the Pick 6?
