Lockdown and the Durban July
3 years 11 months ago
I sincerely hope that Gold Circle and the NHA have a plan in place to manage any challenges arising from tighter restrictions to be announced tomorrow.
Jockey, trainer and horse travel, owners on course etc.
Also does racing now clearly understand which sector it falls under? Agriculture or sport?

Have GC followed Phum to race behind closed doors?

No, I don't believe so, but I think it is only a matter of time; the Chief talks tonight and it is possible that 'they' could close the provincial borders - which off course will decimate July Day - or stop all gatherings - so not sure what the plans are - perhaps we will have a repeat of last year and have the July at the end of the month

i am 100% sure the NHRA, RA, Phumelela and other bodies are keeping all interested parties updated on an hourly basis on action plans and contingency plans should anything change due to further Covid 21 restrictions. You may even find they are engaging the membership base for advice and guidance in these trying times.

Classic SLY!!
I actually think the NHRA are the quietest they have ever been at the moment
It`s actually terrifying to think that lives can be put at risk because they are hiding from SANTA (not claus) and big wealthy owners that want to say ching ching when a R3m Duke Of Marmalade wins R45K in a Maiden

Itโs the ban on gatherings that concerns me. Does a behind closed doors race meeting qualify as a โgatheringโ ?

Rumours that only the tests will be played and all in Cape Town, madness to carry on they should call it off and play next year

That's also the only thing that worries me. If there are no spectators and no owners on course and only work staff and trainers , then surely that doesnt qualify as a gathering?
