Hi all,

got your attention now. Is Brandon Lerena the ONLY NON CLAIMING apprentice in the country at present ?

If there is anyone else - who are they ?

For a matter of interest guys:

How many wins before an appie loses his 'allowance'? Or is it based on a 'time period'?

Cheers, Jim.

it use to be 40 wins but I think theyve changed it to 50. Stand to be corrected. The old system was claim 4kg for 6 qualified rides up the sraight and 6 around the turn then claim 2.5kg for first 20 wins then 1,5kg till 40 wins.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if any other appies had lost their claim.
Mark latest ruling is young appies - 50 wins before you loose all your claim.
after your first 10 wins, loose claim 4 kgs down to 2,5 kgs.
think after 30 wins, claim goes from 2,5 to 1,5 kgs.
then after 50 wins.... CLAIM NO MORE.

Some of the older appies ( there is some sort of a special apprentice, for the older guys ) S.Nhlapo, Malherbe etc who never went through the academy in Durban from day 1 ( they normally come via James Maree work riders school ) I think they have to win either 30 or 40 wins, before they loose their claim - but their "appyship" is a lot shorter than the youngsters from Durban.
