O'Brien declares big two for
Irish St Leger

AIDAN O'BRIEN has sprung a surprise by declaring Yeats and Septimus for the Irish Field St Leger as he attempts to become the first trainer since 1935 to complete a grand slam of victories in Ireland's Classics.

As well as triple Gold Cup hero Yeats, who won the Curragh race 12 months ago, and Septimus, the Ballydoyle maestro will also saddle Mikhail Fokine and New Zealand.

William Hill left Septimus as 1-2 favourite, believing Yeats will only run if his stablemate is an absentee.

A final field of ten includes the Kevin Prendergast-trained pair of Mores Wells, 5-1 second favourite with Hills, and Red Moloney, and Hasanka from the John Oxx stable.

Jane Chapple-Hyam's Yellowstone is the sole British-trained representative, while Arch Rebel and Savannah are the other declared runners.

Yeats out so Septimus should be yet another easy winner for the O'BRIEN stable.

Septimus scores easily by 13 lengths. Another one for Aiden O'Brien.
