PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: The Met In July with World Sports Betting
DATE: Monday 25 January 2020
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
World Sports Betting (WSB) will sponsor the Met Day In Jozi at Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday 30 January.
Under the current Covid-19 conditions, racing is taking place behind closed doors but once the pandemic is behind us, fans will be able to attend race meetings and enjoy all the facilities that come with the experience, and WSB will be there.
This year, racing fans will have to get into the spirit of the Grade 1 Cape Town Met over 2000m at Kenilworth, the other 11 races on the card, as well as a full meeting at Turffontein, from home.
“The World Sports Betting Met in Jozi is a fun day that has always added to the overall Met Day experience for racing fans,” said Ryno du Plessis, Marketing Manager for World Sports Betting.
“While we can’t be there in person this year, we will be joining the rest of the South African racing community in watching every race from home and enjoying some quality racing.
“WSB will as always be offering streaming on all races free of charge and we have a deposit match promotion running over the period where punters can get 100% of every deposit matched up to a massive R20,000 to make this Met day even better.
“We thank Phumelela for ensuring racing continues in these trying times and look forward to more great racing on the horizon.”
There will be a number of carryovers to the Kenilworth meeting, in particular a Pick 6 carryover of R5 million with a pool estimated to reach R15 million.

Genuine question is this du Plessis fellow related to Rian du Plessis? Anyone thanking Phumelela for anything needs to get their heads read.

Yes I think the recent stake increases etc all credit must go to the Sponsors WSB.
I still have no idea who is running Phumelela (business practitioner) ?
If they are making progress with the tote, it would surprise me with the numerous discrepancies and general image.
I was only expecting an upswing when MOD take over ..........
Transparency remains a concern.
