PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE

SUBJECT: No turf racing at Fairview for rest of year

DATE: Sunday 22 November 2020

RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

The Algoa Cup race meeting at Fairview this Friday 27 November will be run on the Polytrack circuit following an inspection of the turf track by racing and track management and several trainers.

It had been hoped to resume racing on the turf surface this Friday after unseasonal cold weather retarded grass growth and delayed the scheduled resumption of turf racing last month following the track’s annual spring treatment.

The turf surface has come on in leaps and bounds since and is generally in excellent condition, but problem areas remain in spite of track staff’s best efforts to stimulate growth in these sections.

The inspection team unanimously agreed that because of these affected areas the track is not yet safe race for racing and it has been decided to only resume racing on the turf surface from 1 January next year.

Declarations for Friday’s big meeting will go ahead as scheduled this Monday 23 November with distances of all races remaining unchanged.

What?? Naa this is not possible! Nothing has changed. I thought Vaal has problems you don’t know where the going is one week from the next but they can’t get Fairview going🤣🤣 who is running the show whilst we wait in anticipation to get rid of those who are stuffing everything up? Algoa cup ran in October on turf for decades didn’t it?? But We not allowed to bring children and wear flip flops but they can’t do there job ahg no man, I think it’s time we moved on! Stakes broken, tracks broken, zero communication we feel sick 😷
Oh one more thing, no inquiry by NHA or Andy o Connor as to why the tracks are not repaired, there’s been more rain and sun and time on their hands in PE according to my mates surely excuses have now run out, what was it called again commission of tracks or something 🤣🤣 tractors still broken no watering training tracks battling and have you seen the state of the barns here at the Vaal and I believe Randjesfontein and Turffontein
And they keep there jobs because no one knows any better. Can that oke walk the tracks from England hell😂😂😂 he’s having a proper joll good old Patrick he he heeee wow we ?🤣🤣🤣 ive never laughed so much in all my life. And the RA to owners?? No letter of apology to owners in PE I believe and how is the RA holding them accountable? So embarrassing for MOD (Sorry Mary you don’t deserve this) and on that note when are you people now putting your foot down and removing the business practioner who’s earning all Mary’s money as well as the rest of them? Can you imagine what stakes we would race for if that guy added the alleged 30 bar they’ve earned to date, and don’t hold your breath I’m told he’s around for another year.. oh God do we need your help now more than ever 🙏
Are there stables available in Gold Circle? I’ll call my mate Laff and Tony, that could be the answer you know now that I think about it.

On second thoughts maybe we can move back to Cape Town for the season since my advocate friend tells me they using sponsors money to top up stakes but what happens in March? Do we go back to 40k a maiden plate in the winter? Nee fok then it’s moving all over again. I’ve actually never been so lost I don’t know where to turn it’s such a mess 🤮

As Elton would say

“It’s sad, so sad, it’s a sad, sad situation

And it’s getting, more and more absurd.”

Transparency still a no go 🙈
