Besides the favourite in the 4th, Nafoorah, who looks to have champ in the making stamped all over it, I fancy the favourite in the 9th, Bequest. Punted on debut, and won very well over the course and distance, with natural improvement can win again.

1 Horse Racing South Africa TURFFONTEIN INSIDE RACE 4 2020-10-24 13:45 3. NAFOORAH M/Win 0.91 Pending
2 Horse Racing South Africa KENILWORTH RACE 3 2020-10-24 14:00 1. GAINSFORD M/Win 1.00 Pending
3 Horse Racing South Africa KENILWORTH RACE 4 2020-10-24 14:35 3. RUN FOX RUN M/Win 0.83 Pending
4 Horse Racing South Africa TURFFONTEIN INSIDE RACE 9 2020-10-24 16:45 1. BEQUEST M/Win 2.00 Pending
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

TURFFONTEIN INSIDE SATURDAY OCTOBER 24 FORMGUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTATIONS

David Thiselton

RACE 1: Preview: CASTLE CORNER (4) is a typically progressive gelding by Ideal World and is the one to beat from pole position over a course and distance which should suit as he was run out of it by a promising sort last time over 1600m. PURPLE PANTHER (5) has been knocking on the door from 1200m to 1600m so should be right there too although he did take a while to get going over 1600m last time so coming down in trip might not be what he is looking for. COURTROOM MAGIC (9) ran on well from last on debut over 1200m and being a Greys Inn half-brother to Magic School he will relish the step up in trip although he does have a tricky draw to overcome. NAMIB DESERT (12) is well bred being by Silvano out of the Grade 2 winning speedster Welwitschia. NARTJIE (13) is by boom sire Vercingetorix out of Galileo mare Narjis which makes her a three-parts brother to the two-time winners by Silvano Nabeela and Meeraas. (David Thiselton 4-5-9-12-13)

RACE 2: Preview: DICE THE BULLET (1) has been knocking on the door from 1450m to 1600m and strikes as one who will enjoy this trip so she is the one to beat from a plum draw. SUPER DUPER (3) has a better draw than last time when caught wide and she should be staying on resolutely into the money again. MYNAGE (5) has breathing issues so can’t be relied on but she does have the ability to go close and the tongue tie is being used for the third time in succession. (David Thiselton 1-3-5)

RACE 3: Preview: BELIEVEINTHEFUTURE (10) ran on strongly last time over 1200m and being by Futura out of Grade 2 KRA Fillies Guineas runner up Reason To Believe he should enjoy this trip. GRAZINGINTHEGRASS (11) was caught wide last time but still stayed on for a 4,25 length fifth over 1450m to subsequent Grade 2 winner Nourbese and if able to get cover this time he can be involved over a step up in trip he will enjoy, although he is returning from a 104 day rest. SEA WAYS (8) packs a strong finish over 1450m on his day and on pedigree should enjoy the step up in trip. ROCKPAPERSCISSORS (7) ran on late over 1450m on debut and gave the impression he would relish this sort of trip. MASTER MARINER (9) ran a fair third last time over 1600m when leading and from a good draw tries further and although this Master Of My Fate gelding’s dam Pacific Gem was a 1000m specialist she was by Model Man and has produced an 1800m winner. (David Thiselton 10-11-8-7-9)

RACE 4: Preview: NAFOORAH (3) is on the up and can make it three out of four over a step up n trip which does have a slight question mark for although he was pulling away over 1600m last time after leading the whole way he was a little bit headstrong in the early stages. MAGIC VISION (8) was a touch unlucky last time when second over this trip and now has a plum draw. MAJOR RETURN (6) showed what he is capable of last time from a handy position in a Middle Stakes event over 1600m and if he can be placed similarly from a fair draw he can be involved again over a trip he has won over as he is fairly well weighted in this Middle Stakes event despite being given a one point raise. SKIMINAC (1) is second best in at the weights and enjoys this trip. OUR MAN IN HAVANA (4) has become disappointing as he has ability and he is the best weighted according to official merit ratings so could bounce back. (David Thiselton 3-8-6-1-4)

RACE 5: Preview: SECOND BASE (2) has a wide draw to overcome but should enjoy the step up in trip and can progress. ICE MAN COMETH (1) can improve and has a fair draw over an ideal trip. SHORTSTOP (7) has the form to be a contender here despite a wide draw. HOT GOSSIP (3) could be involved if able to overcome a wide draw. DUKE OF SWING (5) could earn off a merit rating which is now competitive. THANDEKILE (8) has dropped to a competitive merit rating and is distance suited. (David Thiselton 2-1-7-3-5-8)

RACE 6: Preview: LAETITIA’S ANGEL (3) is drawn in pole and there is little between her and Peaceontherocks. GET SET (11) has a good draw for a change which should allow her to produce her usual good finish from a handier position. PEACEONTHEROCKS (5) has good form over this trip in the context of this race and has a plum draw. COMET CRYSTAL (8) will be dangerous from the front with a 2,5kg claimer up. SOUL OF WIT (9) can be involved if overcoming a tough draw. (David Thiselton 3-11-5-8-9)

RACE 7: Preview: CAPTAIN MORISCO (4) is talented and has a good draw and a 2,5kg claimer up over the trip of his only win. SAVIOUR (10) just failed last time over 1200m when handy from a tricky draw and he has a shout here from pole position over the trip of his only win. GARDEN PARTY (2) was sent to the front last time and enjoyed it so can possibly make it a double over the same trip. (David Thiselton 4-10-2)

RACE 8: Preview: VASEEM (1) has talent and is distance suited and although returning from a 121 day layoff and having a tricky draw he is the best weighted by a long way according to official merit ratings. FIRE AND ICE (3) has talent and is distance suited and well drawn and although returning from a 212 day layoff he has courage and could be in the shake up. THUMBS UP (12) has a light weight and a good draw and should be right there over an ideal trip. ROCK THE GLOBE (2) is distance suited and his best recent run was over this trip although he returns from a layoff of 104 days and has a tough draw. PROCRASTINATOR (8) is way out at the weights with the best in but looks to be progressive. (David Thiselton 1-3-12-2-8)

RACE 9: Preview: BEQUEST (1) made a good winning debut and can follow up from pole position over the same trip off a reasonable opening handicap mark and with 1,5kg claimer Juglall keeping the ride. DIAMONDS ‘N DUST (6) should enjoy the step up in trip and can go close if able to overcome a tricky draw. GOLDEN SPIRAL (2) won well last time from a similarly wide draw and Strydom stays up off a four point higher mark. (David Thiselton 1-6-2)

Bipot (R324)

Been watching this one also...seems to do better in set weight / conditions races even when out at the weights...took it twice when it won at more than 10/1 in those type of races...so waiting for that...:)

I think Mr Thistleton has pretty much got it spot on - some additional thoughts - strange that Dennis Schwarz has seemingly deserted the Alexander stable ...

R1: Should be fought out by the 2 at the top of the boards - Peter runners may upset

R2: Dice the Bullet does seem the right one - Super Duper should place again

R3: Interesting runner here imo is Grazinginthegrass - van Rensburg now back aboard and form does look stronger, but is drawn a little wide; danger I think is Believeinthefuture who is steadily improving, while Master Mariner should place agai; I don't think Sea Ways can beat either Grazinginthegrass or Believeinthefuture

R4: As per the betting, I think Nafoorah should prove hard to beat - handicapper gave him 8 points after his last win, but that form has been franked and does not face much stronger here imo; 2nd choice for me Magic Vision, from Flash Burn, who may need one more run; Hewitson takes the mount on Our Coys - first run in Gauteng, but MR has been dropping, so could place

R5: Toughest race on the card; fancied runners drawn wide, so anything possible; first choice for me is Duke of Swing, but Ice Man Cometh may be the stable elect; the other stable mate Thandekhile also looks well in and could bounce back after a poor last effort; Roksolana tries further from a good draw; who knows

R6: At the weights, one has to fancy Comet Crystal; not a lot between Peaceontherocks and Leatitia's Angel, while Get Set could also have a say from a good draw; Tartan Dancer tries shorter, but surely one of a few disappointments for a stable that has been in great form

R7: Captain Morisco drops to the minimum trip and should prove hard to beat imo; will probably be sitting just off them in a race where the pace is sure to be on from the jump; looking at the card, I did fancy a bit of Starflash, but for some reason that one is now racing in steels, so either he is not fancied, or the stable is looking for a price  Precious Stone holds Starflash, while Touch of Fate looks well in but will need some luck from a wide draw

R8: A lot will depend on the fitness of Vaseem and Fire and Ice; Fire and Ice looks capable and has the draw, so at the odds it may be worth it taking on Vaseem; Rock the Globe also very capable, but will need some luck from the draw; while What You Are imo needs further and softer ground; Thumbs Up interesting runner, gets a lot of weight from the others, and could surprise from a good draw

R9: Open contest; I'm not sold on Bequest - did win on debut, but the form imo looks suspect; Golden Spiral drawn wide, but did win her last start from a similar gate, so has the speed to get in position early; Initiator improving and definite chance with Gypsy Woman, who is weighted to turn the tables on Golden Spiral; Pretty Jolly better further but also holds Golden Spiral - not easy

Enjoy B)
