Complete MADNESS the way they compile the races in NATAL..
NOT USER FRIENDLY at all....... there is DO IT AGAIN carrying nearly TOP weight but shoved in at horse # 18 right at the bottom !!!!! a balls up it is....... of the seasoned JULY punters, will any of them THINK a top weight horse is at the bottom of the page @ 18 ? I think not.
on a lighter not GOT THE GREENLIGHT draw 13, is probably a good thing....... should be not be involved in early scrummaging for the inside rail early on !

Wonder who will partner Golden Ducat? Striker, Bernie and Byleveld available.
Luke Ferraris maybe?

.....my roughie for a drum is the well named Capoeira....I really liked his ped pic and thought he would be a 3yr old classic contender..... but now think his MR is a bit too high....what was he at before his recent win...

Traditionally, on the last Saturday of the season we used to see the Champion Juvenile (GR1), the Thekwini (GR1), Champions Cup (GR1) and the Gold Cup (GR3). Can I assume we have lost the baby races as the babies will be 3yo's next month?

He was rated 110 and went up 5 for his win. The 115 was also the rating he was previously given after running 6.5 L behind Hawwaam at level weights in the Daily News off an 81 rating.
The form of his recent win is a bit suspect as the moderate Sovereign Spirit ran 3rd under sufferance.
I don’t give him any chance unless he can somehow improve significantly over the extra ground. Interestingly, despite the Daily News run being his best ever, that’s the only time he has been further than 1800m. None of the siblings have won beyond 1600m- and the dam was unraced, but I guess being by Fort Wood there is stamina there.
The benchmark horse for all the bottom weights is the improving Belgarion, rated 119+ after his last win. I can’t see any of the other bottom weights beating him, with the possible exception of Silvano’s Pride if they let her escape a few lengths she might steal it.
The 3year olds have not yet shown that they can beat him at level weights either, although they still all have scope for improvement so while I think it’s unlikely, you can never completely rule them out.
Bunker Hunt is probably better than rated, and so he also comes into the picture along with the proven trio of Rainbow Bridge, Do it Again and Twist of Fate. Vardy is good enough if he stays the trip. Soqrat is in my view a few pounds overrated, but has the class to surprise and has run well at a Greyville.
My prediction : 1 Bunker Hunt 2 Rainbow Bridge 3 Belgarion 4 Do it Again

Re: DURBAN JULY FINAL FIELD
4 years 10 months agoMmmmm. I see she was drawn 22 in the Garden Province and she has drawn 2 for the KZN Breeders on Sunday. The KZN Breeders is also carrying, what is now, a whopping R500k purse, sjoe.Contest wrote:She is running this Sunday.Mac wrote: Not the July but the Garden Province on the same day - I see Missisippi Burning scratched, oh dear

I wonder when they going to release the ComputaForm for the Vodacom July, would be nice if it arrives today!

Blame the stakes cuts and the draw bias at Greyville.
Runs on 19th in R500k race in the KZN Breeders Mile against weaker, instead of R 325k Gr 1 from a wide draw. For breeding purposes she already has Gr 1 to her name.
It’s going to be interesting to see if she or Summer Pudding gets the Equus award for 3yo filly.

Still with the Garden Province - unless he can get onto Mill Queen, Superman will not have a ride.
