VAAL CLASSIC TRACK 25/06/2020 FORMGUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTATIONS, BEST BET, VALUE BET
by David Thiselton
Race 1.
Preview: (1) AL MADHAR is by Silvano out of a USA-bred mare who won second time out over 1400m and was retired after running 6th and 5th respectively in the Allan Robertson and the Devon Air Stakes. (12) WHITE FANG is by Futura out of a Trippi mare who won once over 1600m and who is a half-siuster to stakes winners Galileo's Night and Croc Valley. (3) ELUSIVE SWANN has some fair from in three runs. (David Thiselton 1-12-3)
Race 2. (
SENTBYDESTINY (
finished third in a strong juvenile plate on debut. (9) SIREN OF GREECE (9), who is by Duke Of Marmalade out of Triple Tiara-nearly filly Siren's Call, will relish the step up to this trip after three good runs over shorter. (11) TWICE THE ACT made a fair debut over 1200m and should improve over this trip. (David Thiselton 8-9-11)
Race 3. (2) FUTURE PERFECT is improving and has a shout here if able to overcome a tough draw. (7) GRACE FROM ABOVE made a fair debut over this trip and being by Duke Of Marmalade should improve. (1) EPPAGILIA has improved recently and is always thereabouts and he should handle the step up in trip. (David Thiselton 2-7-1)
Race 4. (1) SULTANAH has a tricky draw but has Lertena up and has a form chance. (2) OLIVIA was well beaten by Sultanah in their only meeting but is well drawn and can inmprove. (5) COTOPAXI has shown signs of ability and can earn here. (David Thiselton 1-2-5)
Race 5. (3) RIVERSTOWN is a talented sort who should be coming into his own and thgis is an ideal trip, although he does have a tricky draw. (6) LAKE KINNERET was doing his best work late earlier this week and now has a plum draw over his optimum trip. VASEEM (1) is talented and is also distance suited but he has a tricky draw. (David Thiselton 3-6-1)
Race 6. (3) RUSSIAN BEAT is consistent and should start progressing so looks the one to beat from a good draw over a suitable trip. (4) AKWAAN has improved with blinkers and goes for a hattrick over a suitable trip. (1) KINGS ARCHER is still competitive at the age of 8 and has the advantage of a 2,5kg claimer up and the disadvantage of a wide draw. (David Thiselton 3-4-1)
Race 7. (2) BULLSADE has run two crackers in her last two starts and looks to have an easier task here from a good draw. (6) ROUGE ALLURE can never be written over this trip when well drawn and she has Lerena up from pole position. (1) KAYLA'S CHAMP is a talented sort who shoud be improving all the time and she should be running on if having luck from a tough draw with a 4kg claimer up. (David Thiselton 2-6-1)
Race 8. (1) BELLA ROSA is well drawn over an ideal trip and has the advantage of a recent run. (5) FIREWORKS is a maiden but has a fine chance at the weights over a suitable trip from a fair draw. (2) EVENING RISE's best run was over this trip and she is well drawn. (David Thiselton 1-5-2)
Race 9. (2) FORT ANNE won her maiden well and Strydom stays aboard from a good draw over a suitable step up in trip. (1) KAPAMA had an easier task at the weights last time than she has here but she has come into her own and can win again. (3) FLAGSHIP FUND can earn here if bouncing back to her best. (David Thiselton 2-1-3)

Race 1 The first timer Al Madhar is priced up as favourite. Back to Black is any price, but there was a lot to like about his debut behind runaway winner Fire and Ice in a fast time. He looks ew value. Elusive Swann has been improving each start and should be in the frame. Funky Musuc fair debut and should enjoy the extra.
race 2 As co-breeder I will be shouting for Siren of Greece. She has placed all three starts and should crack her maiden soon. She is the only runner for Elusive Fort as a broodmare sire so far. Sentbydestiny has been priced up favourite after a decent debut and gets the plum draw and a top jockey so must be respected. The ew value in this race is Twice the Act which put up a decent debut in open company and will also enjoy the step up in trip.
Race 3 Another first timer priced as favourite, and doesnt have to be a super star to win here. Future perfect has shown steady improvement each start and despite wide draw should be respected. Eppagilia and Untamed Tiger have solid form and both are overdue a maiden win. Hold Your Horses very wide draw but improved last two and could sneak a place.

Race 4 This has been priced up a boat race between Sultanah and Olivia and they look the right two. Sultanah is preferred with the benefit of a recent run, although Olivia gets the better draw.
Race 5. Vaseem and Riverstown are two classy 3year olds and it would be no surprise if they fought this out, but they take on a few hard knocking older horses. Lake Kinneret has not run for 5 months, but is well in at the weights and if fit can give them a go.Captain and Master and Silver God also return from breaks but are capable on their day. Riverstown has the benefit of a recent run and could be the right one.
race 6 An open race- many with chances. My value play here is Follow My Path. His latest run behind Magic School and his run in the Classic behind Got the Greenlight were both well above his current rating even though well beaten when way out at the weights in conditions races. He has his third run in as many weeks, so is definitely fit.
Race 7 An open handicap, with a preference for Bulsade over Rouge Allure and Flaming Duchess.
Race 8 no selection
Race 9 I liked the way that Fort Anne won last time and she must be much better than a 74. Quite open if she doesn't win it.
