Hi all
Been off grid for a while and need to catch up.I hear the racing at Flamingo finishes next month.
Not everyone’s cup of tea,but I’ve always done pretty well punting wise at the venue.
What are your memories of the place, good or bad?
What’s going to happen to trainers and staff? I wish them all the best

Think there was only 6 or so based there

Ziets has moved ( he wasn’t based there)

The rest have options I believe, but their issue will be getting horses good enough to race elsewhere

for the sake of the horses i would run restricted races at the vaal on mondays for the next 12 months.

reduced stakes etc.

otherwise many poorer quality horses and possibly their owners are at risk of being lost in the next few months.

Courses in South Africa where I made money:

Newmarket: CLOSED
Clairwood: CLOSED
Flamingo: Soon to be CLOSED

There is a message there somewhere

Never really liked kimberly but remember one day Cheyne rode a double for a certain trainer at huge prices , one of the best coups I seen in a long time , they must have got the lot

Yip I remember that too.
The horses had diabolical form and the trainer also.
I think it was Lotz or something like that. There was another trainer there at the same time with the same surname also.
Those two horses ran again and never came close and I can’t recall that trainer ever having another win and then disappeared.
No inquiry,no trainer being questioned,no specimens taken,nothing.
Very very fishy.
