Solsticia (11.34 Chantilly)

Homebred filly who is bred to be top class over staying trips, being by Le Havre out of a Galileo mare. Solsticia made an encouraging debut for trainer Andre Fabre in a mile Longchamp contest in September last year, where she bursted through a gap to lead with a couple of furlongs to run only to be worn down late and finish fourth in a blanket finish. Perhaps got done for a bit of a speed late on in that contest but this step up in trip will suit and so will the time off after that effort. Maxime Guyon rides and she is drawn well in gate one.

I dont know... this French racing has me beat. The two horses I made the worst and no hopers run 1st and 3rd. Ruudje beautifully ridden, placed fourth switched out with 300 m to go ... jockey asks for an effort and horse decides to 'go to last, do not pass begin' !!! Went out like a light ....

So another reflection on French racing. The 'tote' favorite and my first selection Dionysos ... also beautifully placed 3rd on the rail two to three lengths off the leader ... 400 m's out the gap opens perfectly and the jockey continues to pose both hands on the reins as the horse slides backwards and comes in 2nd last ...WTF????

Anador should run a blinder race, flopped as fav over same distance at G3 level. Only 2 horses competed at G1 Level (Anador & Plumatic).
