Not a bad card considering just two Saturdays to the big meeting.

R1) Bowie and Pray For Rain to fight this out, siding with Bowie. Tarry's only runner on the day and the booking of Marcus speaks volumes.

R2) Playing to beat the favourite, Pacific Rim, with Mr Fergie. Has improved with every run, and if not getting boxed in this time round, will run them down. Forms part of a yankee which i will post on the Turffontein thread.

R3) Voice Of Reason, also one for the day for van Zyl. Not often you see a van Zyl horse in the Cape (I could be wrong), the horse has made good improvement and looks the one to beat from a decent draw.

R4) In Auro, might have found the 2500m a touch far, back in distance and should go close here.

R5) Azores, can go in again, not harshly penalised for the last win.

R6) Springisintheair, my best bet on the card. Comfortable maiden winner and should win this.

R7) Brandenburg, even though regular jockey Mxothwa has decided to the ride on Rockin' Ringo whom he rode last. Just think Brandenburg will be competitive in this field off the weight. Contended with fairly wide draws last two runs, from a fair draw and if ridden handy again, could go all the way.

R8) Not crazy about anything in particular, gun to the head, Worlds Your Oyster. On breeding shouldn't be winning over the minimum distance and could be anything.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 1. I have no idea how good the unraced horses are, but the value bet here must be Musical Glitch with two decent runs under the belt and getting 4 kg from the boys. Pray for Rain good debut and looks the best of the raced colts.
Race 2. Looks a boat race between Red Rock Canyon and Mr Fergie, with a slight preference for Red.
Race 3. Quite open looking with a few that can improve. Voice of Reason a worthy favourite and is the one to beat. What a Flirt poor last run but on previous two must be in with a shout. 1,4,6 others to consider for quartets.
Race 4. If this was an ordinary maiden, then In Auro would be a banker, but the handicap conditions complicate matters. Others to consider at the weights are Holy Warrior, Naughty Boy, Live Wire and Hope and Pray.
Race 5. Gelding may do the trick for Vforvictor, but Kursk has better form. Silver Plains is well in at best. Azores looks progressive and must be included in an open race.
Race 6. Grey Princess went much too fast when setting the pace under a light weight last time, and over this trip and a stronger jockey has an ew chance in a very open race.
Race 7. Dynastic Light is down in class and may be good enough despite top weight. In an open field of hard knockers, Alaskan Night May have the most scope for improvement.
Race 8. Forty Days has been disappointing last two, but on best form has a squeak n another tough race. Worlds your Oyster could be anything after winning when unfancied on debut. Stopalltgeclocks and Regimental look progressive. Red Eight is very consistent but usually finds something to beat him.

By far the best looking going down.

The Tarry horse had to be encouraged just to gallop top the start.

Lord Marmite to place.
