He never wanted to win this race!
What a disgrace' he waited for something to beat him....
Please explain Candice Bass Robinson if you are happy with this ride?
Bla bla bla I'm talking from my pocket... off fucking course yes' He cost me a 10% pick 6... and about R70k.
Would so love to give him a PK right now...
Disgusting!

Why the hate...he isnt here to defend himself..and you threathening the man...you need to stop gambling becos you know not how to lose
I hate to lose by means of crooking! Incompetent jockeys.
Hard enough to study form, how do you study jockeys mindset and instructions by crooked bookies, trainers, officials?
News for you, horseracing is more than just a gamble, it's not 100% dependent on luck, maybe for guys like you picking horses with a needle pin, but for connoisseurs, we like to beat the odds and back a winner.

I would at any time fly down to where ever the jockey, trainer and owners is and give them ample opportunity to defend themself, surely the owners and alot of people lost out on their own all to come doubles with their horse in race 3, believe me they are crying as well.
Would you have smiled after losing out on R100k knowing that your horse was not given full and professional assistance to win?
Dream on!

I have no problem with any jockey being criticized, but the profanity and assumption of dishonesty in Saint's post is beyond what I consider acceptable in a public forum.
As regards the ride itself, I have looked at it a couple of times- Cheyne has Pacific Rim in a winning position, and rides him out confidently. He has his whip in his right hand, and with 200m to go is keeping the horse balanced and the horse is going well enough not to need the stick. When Winnaar moves up to challenge, his mount hangs inwards towards Pacific Rim away from the right handed stick and although he then straightens out and does not bump Pacific Rim, the two race extremely close together the last 100m. There is clearly not enough room for Cheyne to use the stick in his right hand. He had two choices- keep punching the horse out with the hands, or pull the stick through to the left hand. The danger with the latter option is that there is then the risk of the horse shifting out away from the stick and causing interference.
Winnaar rides a great finish, and one can perhaps conclude that Cheyne rode somewhat over confidently, or perhaps should have switched the stick to the left hand, but in my opinion no reasonable review would find anything seriously amiss in his ride.
