CTS Ready to run sale

It looks like a tough sale by all accounts and probably not surprising given the reduction in stakes and the general finacial climate

2019 (2018 in brackets)

162 horses offered (109) +48.6%
16% not sold (9.2%)
R170110 Average ( R205252 ) -17.1%
R100000 Median (R140000) -28.6%
23 horses sold at minimum ( 3 ) +666%
45 horses sold R50000 and below ( 11 ) +309%

The only bit of good news was the sales topper went for R2400000 compared to R1100000 in 2008.

why was the horse worth 2.4 million? Breeding ? Conformation? something else?

Surely need to change the name from 'Ready-to-Run' - only reason to buy here is to try and get into the big race next year this time - so many surely not that 'ready to run'

[quote=......something else indeed.....very very strange....would like to see who gets pulled into this one....maybe at last a bloodstock agent is going mercenary....tired of finding gems in the bargain price range and earning pennies for doing so....now gets a nice comm on some decent tom.....

......ZAR2.4BAR for a 1st foal out of a 2 time winning battling mare owned by Danny and Ronel Collins and raced with the Sham's in PE....the granddam unraced........recorded as bred by Collins Stud...and from the clip of the gallop seems pretty forward....however has a higher than average action but moves well.....;)

.....but the price seems rather excessive....

Did some homework and as I thought BULLSHIT
The R2.4million colt was sold for R650k at previous CTS sale
The buyer Rainbow Bridge i.e Van Niekerk
The buyer at R2.4 Sean Tarry
Work out who his main man is, Van Niekerk
The sales commission is R192k
But then who is a main shareholder of CTS
Van Niekerk !!!
I hope SARS get their VAT

.....I see the legal eagle in SP also cottoned on to this not so little transaction....having spent the initial ZAR650K on a yearling at the CTS in January.....Rainbow Beach....and not to be confused with that goodie Rainbow Bridge ....this collective outfit have thrown another ZAR1.75 BAR to make sure that the horse stays in the fold....maybe we eat our words if this one is as good as Rainbow Bridge.....which there is no relation to ....what so ever.....should this win next years CTS race it will still never recoup its purchase price....this would have to win much much more....

....now God forbid that anything should happen to the boss before the ownership has been officially been ratified.... wonder if the CTS will go to the bidder to get the payment in such an instance....as I dont believe that there is an exchange of hard currency with the boss being a major share holder....

......one has got to ask WTF is going on here.....Rainbow Beach were active at the sale buying 7 other lots for a combined ZAR1.4BAR......yet Tarry signs for this one in his own capacity.....was he bidding for .....or against the boss.... .....and why is the horse still registered with the original breeders even after the CTS sale to Rainbow Beach in January.....Sum Ting Wong.....
