At the 250m,SAVEA (L Mxothwa) rolled in slightly and carried JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) inwards, which brushed the hindquarter of AQUA BOLT (A Andrews), turned AQUA BOLT (A Andrews) outwards. As a result of this, AQUA BOLT (A Andrews) commenced to shift outwards sharply, carried JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) outwards onto SAVEA (L Mxothwa) which was then forced to check and became unbalanced leaving the 200m when tightened for galloping room between JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) and MOON ROCK (S Khumalo). AQUA BOLT (A Andrews) then continued to shift outwards approximately four horse widths, resulting in JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) becoming severely tightened for galloping room and having to check with MOON ROCK (S Khumalo) being bumped outwards, making heavy contact with the hindquarter of BRAVE TIGER (A Domeyer), which was turned inwards, became severely unbalanced and lost all momentum. MOON ROCK (S Khumalo) had to check at the 50m as a consequence of this.
b) An objection was lodged by a member of the stipendiary board on behalf of the 2nd placed horse (JEPHTAH) and the 3rd placed horse (BRAVE TIGER) against the winner (AQUA BOLT) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the distance between JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) of 0.30 and AQUA BOLT (A Andrews), the interference suffered by JEPHTHAH and the substantial loss of momentum at a critical stage suffered by BRAVE TIGER, the stewards were of the opinion that, but for this interference, both JEPHTHAH (M Byleveld) and BRAVE TIGER (A Domeyer) would have finished in front of AQUA BOLT (A Andrews) and accordingly upheld the objection.
c) Jockey A Andrews was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of AQUA BOLT he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to runners on his outside from the 150m. In assessing the penalty, the Board took into account the severity of the interference, mitigating factors and his riding record. Jockey Andrews signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days. (Dates: 24/11/2019 to 03/12/2019 inclusive).

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a) TRACK ATTACK and SUPERBUS jumped slow, losing 1 length.
b) NEWHAVEN was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
c) ABRAHAM LINCOLN was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he used his crop more than 12 times during the race whilst riding the horse CAPTAIN FLINDERS. Jockey Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R 1000,00
b) Leaving the 200m, a tiring TWILIGHT ZONE (S Khumalo) was brushed inwards by TRACK ATTACK (K de Melo) and had to ease off the heels of IN AURO (*S Mbhele).
c) At the 100m, TRACK ATTACK (K de Melo) clipped the heels of LIT (M Winnaar) and stumbled when LIT (M Winnaar) shifted in away from the crop. Jockey M Winnaar was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider LIT, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TRACK ATTACK at the 100m. Jockey Winnaar signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. Dates to be advised.
d) CAPTAIN FLINDERS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised. (SC)

Imvho, Andrews deserved more..... At no stage did he attempt to change the crop and "straighten" the horse up.. What he did could of caused major harm to 4 jocks..... One of the worst i have seen..
