Weekend racing extravaganza
5 years 8 months ago - 5 years 8 months ago
TAB and Betting World will keep punters very busy this weekend with some of the most exciting racing from around the world being broadcast live on the various Tellytrack channels.
October 17, 2019
Saturday’s action starts from 05:08 with Race 1 from the Gold Coast in Australia and at 05:15 Race 4 from the Everest meeting follows from Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
The Everest, Race 7 and the main event on the card, is scheduled to be run at 07:15. It is the world’s richest race on turf with the top sprinters competing for $14 million (R140 million) in stakes in this 1200m sprint. In this race Redzel will be attempting to win this race for the third time.
The TAB Quartet pool on The Everest kicks off with R50,000, so punters should not be caught napping. Now in its third year, The Everest is the highlight of the Sydney spring carnival.
Commingled pools at Randwick start from Race 4 and include Win, Place, Exacta and Rolling Doubles. From Races 7 to 10, South African pools will be added in order to include Swingers, Trifectas and Quartets as well.
Other than Randwick, TAB will also bet into commingled pools on racing from five other Australian Flat meetings from 05:00 – Eagle Farm, Bendigo, Newcastle, Gold Coast and Ascot Australia.
The 2019 Caulfield Cup is scheduled to be run in Melbourne. With 18 gallopers set to face the starter in Saturday’s $5 million (R50 million) staying feature over 2400m, this race is considered to be an open affair.
Unfortunately Tellytrack does not have the rights to screen the race so there will be no coverage, nor any TAB betting on this event.
Saturday is also the ninth Qipco British Champions Day and it is expected to be the most valuable day’s racing in Britain in terms of betting as the leading horses, jockeys, trainers and owners from Europe and beyond descend on Ascot for a glorious finale to the 2019 Flat season.
This is one of the most prestigious events in the British sporting calendar, and punters are expected to throw money at anything and everything ridden by Frankie Dettori.
The six races on the card offer total stakes of £4.2m (R80 million). And the first five races are end-of-season championships across various distances.
The three Group 1 races at Ascot form part of Saturday’s TAB Blitz Meeting and with a carryover of R100,000, the TAB Blitz Pick 6 will most definitely give punters a welcome bonus payment. The other races making up the TAB Blitz Meeting are Races 6, 7, and 8 from Turffontein and Race 6 from Durbanville.
As well as the racing from Turffontein and Durbanville on Saturday there is also an eight-race meeting in Mauritius.
Sunday sees local racing at Greyville and Borrowdale, but all eyes will be on the action from Hong Kong, where last season’s SA Champion Jockey Lyle Hewitson will be aboard Singapore Sling in the Group 2 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Handicap over 1600m.
They will be up against Beauty Generation, who is ranked fourth on the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for three-year-olds and upwards and boasts a rating of 127.
Joint first on 128 is Crystal Ocean, Enable and Waldgeist.
TAB will bet on all of these meetings with the exception of the Caulfield Cup meeting, but Betting World will offer a full bouquet of bets on these race meetings.
Punters can also read more news and previews of this weekend’s action and get free tote sheets at www.tabonline.co.za .

Just some inputs on the Everest.
The jtv favs will probably be Santa Ana Lane trained by Anthony Freedman and ridden by Mark Zahra and is around 4/1.
Arcadia Queen should also be same price for James McDonald and trained by Chris Waller has excellent form .
Yes Yes Yes, Pierata, Redzel, Alizee, Sunlight and Classic Legend all in double figures .
It might be worth taking a chance with Obrien and Moore with TEN SOVEREIGNS at around 25/1
Good Punting

Mer De Glace replicated Admire Rakti by winning the A$5m (£2.64m/€3.07m) Stella Artois Caulfield Cup for Japan on Saturday.
Damian Lane's mount stayed on strongly to run out a convincing winner of the 18-runner Group 1 handicap.
The five-year-old scored by a length from Vow And Declare with Mirage Dancer a head behind in third.
