Unlike on Thursday, there does not seem to be many that appeal to me today - draws down the straight to be the telling factor (especially come the 9th) where the sprinkling of rain yesterday my just be enough to change things up - who knows .....
R1: Should give a least a hint as to where the better going down the straight is - Single Red Rose narrowly looks the better on form, but is drawn right on the inside - I'm just watching this
R2: Small but competitive field lining up for this handicap - tactics should win the day; my first choice is Kurt's Approval as he is ideally distance suited and I think Muzi will try to dictate from the front again; Yer-Maan, despite his poor last to runs, is still being persevered with - may prefer the slightly softer ground today, and could run into the places at big odds
R3: Money seems to indicate that Ikigai's number is already in the frame; Great Joe, if repeating his penultimate run, could be the one to surprise in the places
R4: Another first timer has found betting support, so who knows; of the raced runners, Pure Wisdom has found form and is well weighted with the 4kg claim; in a very tricky P6, including four of the raced runners (Endangered, Pure Wisdom, Bridge of Spies, and Live By Night) should ensure survival
R5: Another closely contested Maiden Plate; nothing separated In For a A Penny and Maroon Bells when they last met over 2000, but this is over 400m extra, so who knows; Poppycock has at least gone the trip, but on a line through Final Occasion seems held by the other two; tactics again important, but I'd suggest including at least the 4 in the betting
R6: Fillies and mares handicap, which normally means 'load up', but on form Jacko Boy stands out - should hold Angelic Appeal and Always Red on her last run and not the worst candidate if one is looking for a P6 banker; Emerald Bay has developed a habit of losing ground at the start, but if she decides to jump and go handy from pole position, could prove a danger, while Jive Express is another worth considering imo
R7: Pinnacle Stakes, where Schippers is best in; is trying 1400, but the stable seemed confident that she will be effective over the extra ground and that she is 'fit enough' - so obvious chance; Vistula ran very well in the Garden Province, and had her rating adjusted accordingly; caution from the stable though that she is not at her best, still can't be ignored imo; Afrostar disappointed last week over a sprint, but has been effective over this distance, and must rate a chance as well; Anneka and Mawsool not totally out of it either
R8: Another tricky contest; Baron Rodney goes well over this 1160 and is my choice from Strikeitlikeamatch, who ran on well last time over 1000, but does lose the 4kg allowance this time; Fired Up to me needs further, Greasepaint at best this track and trip and should be right there again, while Tokyo Drift won racing fresh last time and may struggle to keep up over the sprint today
R9: Well this looks a bit of a nightmare to say the least; I'm including 7 runners in my PA and still could easily go out; IF the outside going is still the place to be, I think State Trooper and Premier Show should feature, otherwise even a runner like Torre del Oro is not out of it
Enjoy
