Rain Forest

Race 1 31 July Vaal
Totally totally unacceptable that the authorities allow the re-use of this name.
Is there a way to protest the name of a horse??

I soo agree.
The function of naming is controlled by the NHA, and believe me when I tell you they can be quite sticky. I think there is a 20 year lock on a used name.
So far there has been:
RAIN FOREST SAF 2004 F by WOODBOROUGH
RAIN FOREST SAF 1979 C by ELEVATION
RAIN FOREST SAF 1960 C by NETHERWOOD
RAIN FOREST SAF 1926 F by UNEQUALLED

I dont have a problem with the re-use of certain names but the 1979 version was a top top horse. Not sure if it won any of the national awards at the time but would have been close.

Sure? I got that from the Sporting Post stats. Has it recorded as a Gr2 winner for Elevation.

The NHRA should never allow the use of names of Great Horses like Rain Forest or any other to be used again. Imho it takes away the glory of the legends.
What a disgrace it would be if in the future a Sea Cottage lines up against a Empress Club.

81 Fovoros Grade 1
82 Wolf Power Grade 2
83 Wolf Power Grade 2
84 Rain Forest Grade 2
85 Petrava Grade 2
86 Jungle Rock Grade 2
87 Cup Holder Grade 1
Seems to have flip flopped between Grade 1 and grade 2.
Anyways another thread on how the Horse chestnut can be a grade 1 and the Germiston November can be a grade 2.

I see today in the UK a horse running named GYR, not sure who remembered the original GYR, I remember it running second to Nijinsky in the Derby.
