GOLD CIRCLE MEDIA RELEASE RE: POLYTRACK

Concerns were raised by certain stakeholders about the “looseness” of the Greyville Poly track after yesterday’s race meeting.

Gold Circle Racing Executive Raf Sheik explained that the track had been completely refurbished. Work was completed on Tuesday, 12 February.

“280 tons of new poly was laid at a total cost of R1.8 million, and the track was deep harrowed, uplifted and re-laid, but because the surface had little time to settle and compact, there was a lot of kick-back yesterday” said Sheik.

Peter Morrison of contractors Martin Collins who laid the track said that with the application of water and time, the surface would be back in optimum condition very soon.

Still after continuous requests Gold Circle only gives answers when asked....... There seriously needs to be a proper management overhaul unless they are prepared to continue losing owners & punters.

Does the cost of polytrack maintenance exceed the revenue lost on turf washouts?

Businesses only limit their communication and keep their customers in the dark when there is no confidence in their actions. A weak and never successful strategy in any business.
The press release should have been prior to the work....."Attention Racing Public, Punters & Owners, Gold circle to carry out vital maintenance of Poly Track"

Why only answer when questions are raised???

Justification can and never will trump Communication......

.....was this a scheduled maintenance top up or had to be done due to the higher rainfall recently.....that Sunday meeting where they had to get the water off the surface did a bit of damage as far as wash off is concerned.. because excess water eventually causes the wax to wash out and lose the binding effect
......not enough water and the surface becomes too loose.....but as Tiger says a communication should have gone out that the track had been worked on.....in the same way they report the going of the turf track on the day......
