Where are the stipes today?Lightning NO PROBLEM for Workriders

Amazing - They stop racing when there is not even 1 drop of rain and just a threat of lightning (when Jocks ride) yet for lightning now when its workriders they allow these poor guys to risk their lives when lightning is so close you can hear it on the Television - I hope their is a MAJOR INQUIRY - I know the Vaal well enough and a camera man almost got hit years ago when he was up on a platform and i've been there when it struck so close to the grandstand that we thought it was a bomb - DISGUSTING - They have all the machines to see where the storms are but maybe that technology only works for Jockeys!!

Agree with you Mr H. The crack of lightning before the start would have stopped our jockeys riding in that race. Double standards again.

Brave guys, the jockeys would have stood down immediately!
Niko seems to blame the "Work riders" for horses being slow away, bad rides etc
Never heard him do that with " Jockeys"

They where already at the start and most horses in the starting stalls so it would have been quicker to run the race at race pace rather than back all the horses out and go back to the saddling area at a canter.

They need the money and take the risk - I would love to see that Storm Indicator Machine reading and compare it to other days where racing was stopped when Jocks rode - Clouds just don't suddenly appear in seconds - surely someone with normal eyesight should have seen a storm coming -

6 years 4 months agoThe question is HOW DID THEY GET TO THE START- when jocks ride if a storm is many many kilometers away they stop racingdurbs wrote: They where already at the start and most horses in the starting stalls so it would have been quicker to run the race at race pace rather than back all the horses out and go back to the saddling area at a canter.

Spoke to Vee Moodley. The NHA followed all the rules correctly and they are not at fault.
