Some early thoughts on an attractive card while watching the rugby:
Race 1: Tyrian is the one to beat but there appears to be support for the well bred Via Salaria. These two should be enough for the bipot. Flying Arrow and Empire Glory next best.
Race 2: Consul of War the pick of the older horses, but I prefer the up and coming 3 year olds of which there are quite a few with chances.Dharma has run two good races from shocking draws at Durbanville and from a middling draw here must be respected. All of Fort Calgary, Knights Templar and Shy Guy can improve off decent debuts. River Thames and Middle Wood also fair form. We have Elusive Victor- a decent sort and a good draw. He comes back from a break for vaccinations, and galloped nicely on the grass last week. He has a good ew chance.
Wood for the Trees now gets a run but a very wide draw to contend with. I think that he will prefer Kenilworth and improvement expected.
Race 3: Bella Summer is the one to beat. Dangers are Boundless Deep, Contessas Glance and Spring Burst.
Race 4: Secret Depths is a very nice filly and was way too far back last time when running on very strongly. She also returns from a break for vaccinations, and galloped on the grass last week. Unfortunately a wide draw to overcome but a good ew chance. A competitive race with the improving Tattooed Dancer, Sans Regrets, Purest Bliss and Go Snow Girl Go in with chances as are the hard knocking Kawakami and Grandiflora.
Race 5: Rainbow Bridge is a very exciting prospect but I can’t have him at odds on at these weights. Silver Maple and A New Dawn are well in at the weights and offer better value. Eyes Wide Open prefers furtherand this is presumably a prep run but he is the class horse here and warrants respect.
Race 6: A tricky race with some returning from breaks and a few classy sorts that need further. Magical Wonderland is very classy sprinter but lumps a huge weight. Casual Diamond is distance suited and is well in at the weights- big runner. Anime is also a big runner if fully ready. Quite a few others with chances.
I have 3 runners - Elusive Heart and Freedom Charter need further, while Princess Vicky steps up in class.
Race 7: Ballad of the Sea, Ollivander and Benjan give Candice Robinson a strong hand in a competitive contest.
Race 8: At first glance a very open race, but I really like Potawatomi. He ran above his rating last time in a feature race and cannot get the penalty he earned, and in addition his rider can claim the 2.5kg today. Excellent value at 12/1. I think that his dangers come from the other 3year olds. Seattle Force, Holy Land and Tippu Tib can all improve. Hudoo Magic is on the up but his price is too skinny for me at the weights.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Jack Milner: It is always great to have a reliable banker when there is a Pick 6 carryover and that looks to be the case at Kenilworth on Sunday.

NOVEMBER 10, 2018
There will be R200,000 kicking off the pool, which is expected to reach R1.7 million, on what is a most competitive eight-race card.

The good news is that unbeaten Rainbow Bridge lines up in Race 5, the Cape Mile (Non-Black Type). Bookmakers have priced him up at 5-10 in what is a very decent field and in a race where he is not well handicapped under the race conditions.

However, this son of Ideal World has to be a lot better than his rating of 104, which proves the value of not winning your races by a large margin. He does make supporters sweat as he comes from far back, looks like he’s not going to get there, but then wins easing up.

Trainer Eric Sands has raved about his charge’s ability since the gelding’s first start and has confirmed the wellbeing of his charge. He also is not surprised by the odds of 5-10 and according to a Gold Circle report, said Rainbow Bridge “deserves to be that price”.

Jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe is another member of the Rainbow Bridge fan club and is back aboard. The pair are well drawn, jumping from gate No 5. The gelding is also to enjoy the return to Kenilworth this time after having to win at Durbanville last time.

Taking my chances with the double :-

R3) Bella Summer, from draw 1 and if racing handy should win this.

(R6) Casual Diamond, should will be competitive off the weight, the other two market rivals could need the run, or so I'm hoping.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
