Turffontein, 24/09

Some big name three year olds making their seasonal re-appearances, with bigger plans ahead, so it will be interesting to see how they go.

Race 5, I am going to take on the three year old, Crimson Royale, with Insignis. Whilst Crimson Royale has a higher MR, and is bred to go the extra, going to row in with the 4 year old over the 1800m. Insignis could very well need the run, and that is a concern.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I was considering a bet on this one but just because I like the name... Any reasoning from your side?

Summerhill Stud seems to be on fire at the moment, had 16-1 and 5-1 winners last meeting. I believe the horse has speed, and with a good draw, who knows - it also ran 6th after Afrostar that won on Greyville this afternoon - hoping for a place

Track condition a concern for me.
Race 1 candice Dawson yard on fire
Race 3 train wreck if the 1 loses and the odds for no 1 are crazy. avg horse at best.
Race 7 Copper Jay
Race 8 Carbon Atom - breeding

Thanks - I'll go with my gut and nibble an e/w bet... Can't get hurt ;)

My thoughts for the rest of the card (looking for small value eachways) :

R1 - Perfact - watched this ones last run, was flying at them in the last 200m. A repeat of that run and sure to earn a cheque.
R2 -See Me Run - face the pace convinced me to have a bet :P
R3 - Voodoo - 6/10 places looks way better than 1/10 wins on smart deal
R4 - pearl of baharin win, animal lover place
R5 - Fariha - don't think we've seen the best of this filly yet. Looking at the replay of her win in June... Suggested this 1800m will be an ideal trip. My best bet on the card with respect for the top two in the betting.
R6 - Alyaasaat was very impressive last time and could well go in again but that price is way too short for a straight bet. I'm rowing in with Iditarod Trail e/w.
R7 - Copper Jay - I just can't see him miss the first three. PA banker
R8 - Victor Forth - Although this will be a test for him, I think he is much better over this shorter distance. The last time he went over 1450m and seemed to be run out of it late.
R9 - Any of Boatswain, Well Connected or Quattro can close the day. Boxed swingers & exactas for me.

Have fun guys :) good luck to all

Smart Deal is scratched....but WSB still have it priced up at 1/8....although they have R9 Crimson Magic not in the betting (scratched)

SD is now 1/9 on WSB... Surely they know it's scratched

Looks a easy card but we know that this may not be the case as the hotties are having seasonal debuts.

My fancies:

R2: SUN UP
R5: FARIHA
R8: MIGHTY HIGH
