World’s Biggest races?
6 years 9 months ago
Being from the UK if I was asked what are the World’s biggest races it would always be The Derby, Grand National and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Where do you rank the top races?
My top 10, I’m sure some will want to add races with big prize money like the DWC ... But too me money can’t buy you love
1: Arc de Triumph
2: The Derby
3: Kentucky Derby
4: Melbourne Cup
5: The Grand National
6: Breeders Cup Classic
7: 2000 Guineas
8: The Met
9: The Gold Cup ( Cheltenham)
10: Summer Cup

I would also put ARC no 1
In no particular order Derby , Cheltenham Gold Cup, King George (both) Melbourne Cup, Kentucky Derby, Breeders Cup, 2000 gns , the National.

The Arc without a doubt for Quality.. the whole meeting is packed with the best! I’ve experienced it and it’s amazing for a true racing fan, no glitzy half naked woman and trashy atttractions, just pure racing, trying to get over this year.
For the Crowd, Kentucky Derby and Melbourne Cup.
The Epsom Derby is also a great just being what it is...
In SA, has to be the Queens Plate for the racing man but the July is always great with all the controversy.
Another good one is the Irish Champion Stakes, always a quality field of horses and who will ever forget Galileo and Fantastic Light fighting it out in their day!!!

One of the great racing duels I have seen...Yard-Arm and Wolf Whistle also worth a mention...
