Western Cape Racing

On Saturday at Kenilworth there were 71 horses entered in an 8 race card and eventually 67 ran.
In September there are only 7 meetings scheduled ,predominately at Durbanville.
The leading trainers maintain satellite yards in KZN,Jbg and PE and leading jockeys regularly travel and ride at the tracks in those Provinces.
Is Racing in Western Cape a financially viable proposition from Phumelela's point of view?
Additionally .is it viable to own and run a horse in W Cape?
Watching the Cape Annual Awards on TV,it was noticeable that many of the winning connections were absent!!

It’s all about breeding down there, most the owners in the big yards are also breeders and they are not interested in off season racing
