Re: Durban July Final Declaration
6 years 11 months agoI have a sneaky feeling the CBR runner will be in the mix, the cape winter series runners always give a good account in the July, this horse was runner up in both legs. Look at past winter series runners that have run I the July.DOCTOR R wrote: Here is the real deal....SCRATCH the CBR RUNNER and LET THE KOZEN RUNNER GET IN!!!!!!!

You are correct mate, this not a strong July Field and me thinks this filly better than the previous one

Being a Derby distance winner already this 2200m will suite this horse down to the ground.
I never ever discount Woodruff on these big days

I see Karel gives the average MR in the SP
If he is trying to say the average is about normal he has forgotten the MR
was bumped by 6 points recently
Does that not count?
My opinion ,a pathetic field of horse for a major race like the DJ

I would have had the 2 reserves in the field in place of others. Otherwise more or less expected .
If Pack Leader gets in on a scratching he finishes ahead of quite a few of this field. Likewise over the distance Crowd Pleaser would be more dangerous to the favourites .

Frodo / Shrek and any other of the handicapping guys. If Snowdance were to run in the July, what weight would she be carrying and would she be in / out at the weights?

Richie the maximum a 3 year old filly can carry when the final weights are declared is 56 Kg’s. So would be well in at the weights on her merit rating.
I do agree with Justin when pulling O Susanna, even though she was well in she still had to give weight to the 3 year colts.

Remember what happened to Jackson in the July?ANS is no good thing.
For me the form horse leading up to last years July was Elusive Silva. He has peaked at the right time and I make him the one they all have to beat.My order of finish:
1. Elusive Silva
2.Rocket Countdown
3.Made to Conquer
4.Liege.

Thanks - I was leading with that question to see whether Fiorella is well placed. She has flown a bit under the radar. She was good for her beating of Snowdance when raised to a 108 and was just pipped by Oh Susanna albeit both over 1600. If she gets the distance I feel she could be the lurker in the pack.
