"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon Session' Thursday 10 July Workings.
16 years 11 months ago
Afternoon.
This afternoon's session completed, and went as follows:
The 1st runner we wanted 1.8 and with being around 2.1 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten after a 4-way bunch finish, so 'one that got away in hindsight'........
The 2nd runner we wanted 2.5 and with being around 2.36 and getting shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 2.36 max. The lay was beaten and so a good result.......
The 3rd runner we wanted 3.2 and with drifting to around 3.65 on arrival and then dropping back down to us and slightly beyond, we had a lay at 3.2 max. The lay was beaten and so a good result.......
The 4th runner we wanted 3.2 and with being a well supported 2.72 and getting shorter and shorter (hit a shade of odds on) after arrival, we had a lay at 2.72 max. The lay looked in trouble, but ran on well and won quite well in the end, so gamble landed and the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.......
The 5th runner we wanted 1.5, but a non runner and 13.3% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 1.43. The price was a well supported 1.29 on arrival and so we had a lay at 1.29. The lay went and won without too much fuss, so the way it goes........
The 6th runner we wanted 1.3 and with being around 1.57 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner went and won well, so a good leave.......
The 7th runner we wanted 2.9, but a non runner and 2.9% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.84. The price was around 3.2 on arrival and only getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner ran a very poor race, so the drift justified and 'one that got away in hindsight'.......
The 8th runner we wanted 2.5 and with being around 2.7 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten, so another 'one that got away in hindsight'.......
The 9th runner we wanted 2.7 and with being around 2.54 and slightly shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 2.54 max. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.0 and slightly above, before tumbling back down again, so a fluctuating market and a chance for traders (builders hit and finished) to have a 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result.....
The 10th runner we wanted 3.0 and with drifting to around 3.35 on arrival and then dropping back down to us and beyond, we had a lay at 3.0 max. The lay went and won, so the late money correct and the way it goes. Traders did get their trade back prices in running, so got away with it......
The 11th runner we wanted 3.2, but a non runner and 8.3 reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 3.02. There was then another non runner and further 11.1% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.8. The price was around 3.9 on arrival and only getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner looked the sure winner at a big price, but hit the front and dogged it! to finish 2nd, so the drift justified in the end and 'one that got away in hindsight'....
The 12th runner we wanted 3.0, but a non runner and 3.3% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.93. The price was around 3.35 on arrival and only got bigger, so with not seeing our lay price at any stage, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten and so another justified drifter and 'one that gets away in hindsight'...
The 13th runner we wanted 3.1, but a non runner and 4.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 3.01 (3.0 nearest exchange price). The price had drifted to around 3.1 on arrival and then dropped down to us and slightly beyond, so we had a lay at 3.0 max. The price then went back the other way and out to our own price of 3.3, before going back in again, so a fluctuating market and a chance for traders to have their 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result........
The 14th and final runner we wanted 2.32 and with drifting to around 2.4 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond under good late support, we had a lay at 2.32 max. The price then started to drift back out again and went to our own price of 2.62 and beyond, so a crazy market, but a chance for traders to have a 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result.......
WELL PLAYED..................(3 from the first 6 (50%) went and won - 4 from the first 10 (40%) went and won - so mix that with several annoying drifters and it made up to be a tricky session. However, we played it well and got the money, so well played)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) Won 1 target.........They started their 1st strategy/target on the 2nd runner and then hit their targets on their 2nd lay (the 3rd runner)..........They then started their 2nd strategy/target on the 4th runner and after a battle, they went to their 5th lay (the 13th runner) to recoup and did. So they end the session winning 1 target...
'Bank building' strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 2nd runner) at 2.36 max and a good result see them win a chunk of their targets........They then had their 2nd lay (the 3rd runner) at 3.2 max and a good result see them hit their targets....
Bank builder 4 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
1st lay £100 to win as much of the £100 target @ 2.36 max. Result positive. Win £73
Total bank now £473
2nd lay £157 to win the remaining £27 @ 3.2 max. Result positive. Win £27
Total bank now £500
Overall result. Target hit.
***************************************
Bank builder 5 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
1st lay £80 to win as much of the £100 target @ 2.36 max. Result positive. Win £59
Total bank now £459
2nd lay £114 to win the remaining £41 @ 3.2 max. Result positive. Win £41
Total bank now £500
Overall result. Target hit.

'Traders' had to concede a tiny bit on the 5th runner at 1.29, but all others see them win a bit, or break level, so in the end they did well and well played guys..
So not easy with early winners and those drifter, but builders made light work of the session, despite letting the 1st runner get away, and so good stuff. Rollers made one and then broke level on their 2nd, so they win the wages and no bonus, but that will always suffice. Speak soon guys..
Marc.

That's our work for this afternoon's session then. I've had to hold fire a little this morning due to the ground changes and non runners developing, but finally it seems to have settled down. Not an easy day, far from it, but we do have enough within our armoury to warrant going into battle, so discipline to the maximum and take advantage of any prices that come our way. Good luck and speak soon with this evening's workings.
