If the Bookmakers do not have to reveal the true data & conditions for restriction or closure of accounts to anyone what does it matter? Who gets to decide if it is fair?

The global fact still remains that racing jurisdictions with only tote betting are growing.

UK bookmakers rarely close accounts (i.e. physically prevent the customer from logging in) these days, as they've finally realised just how much negative publicity this generates. A few years ago such account closures were much more common.

That said, bookmakers still effectively close some customers' accounts by imposing draconian restrictions on them. Such restrictions even include the 'zeroing' of accounts, where a customer can still log in and play in the bookmaker's casino (no thanks), but can place a maximum stake of 0.00 on any sports market. A few years ago this cowardly practice was much favoured by at least three of the biggest names in the industry (I know that from my own experience!), although I don't know whether or not they still do it.

Until the UK Gambling Commission takes firm action to prevent bookmakers from imposing draconian restrictions on their customers' accounts (and there's no sign of that happening any time soon), then the status quo will remain and bookmakers will continue to treat their customers as they see fit - all of which is bad news for the punter.
