Goosen - Howells = NOT WELCOME

Im told by a a little bird that my mate Goosen and my wanna be mate Duncan Howells are both not able to attack the CTS multimillion rand race because a donkey (not a slow horse) has been logged as having AHS.

How difficult must it be for people to look at their iPhones iPads and i watches everyday and see that its 2018 and then find out that due to pathetic situations out of their control it feels like they still living in the dark ages.

Imagine how the owners of

Winter Blues and Neptune's Rain must feel.

also banning these 2 horses might be protocol but its bollocks.

i challenge whom ever wins the race to do the decent thing and allow a match race afterwards and putting the winning stake up for grabs.

Poor headline in my opinion
All closely associated with horse are aware that the WC is an AHS free zone and travel is strictly
controlled for that reason
Most AHS is spread to racehorses via donkeys etc how carry the disease and spread by a midget
Many trainers in CT will tell you how horses have to stay over in Beaufort West before moving to Cape Town
So the Trainers are not being discriminated against all all

Easy
Its a pony within 30km of Ashburton that was confirmed positive after having died of AHS. This was confirmed after acceptances. Our travel permits were declined by the State vet.

Very dissappointing for us.

Absolute crap...can feel for the owners and everyone always ask why trainers don't raid for big races... IMO Neptune Rain has trained own and will be a force in the Winter Season

.....so where is this instant screening test developed by Guthrie and co.....or is this a load of BS we were trying to convince the rest of the world horses were safe to travel....if we cannot get it approved for local travel then W(hy)TF was so much moola thrown at it.....no wonder we cannot even export a horse turd ....with all these entities and protocols working against each other.....the millions pissed away on research and so on.....WTF..... :S

.....Elmer...don't discriminate against the little fella's either.. ...the disease is carried/transmitted by what the english refer to as a midge or here in RSA as a "miggie" which is a small flying insect.....and not by a midget....or little person....maybe your spell check got it all wrong.... :P

To be honest, i should have been more awake and up to date. Yes, nobody has told Trainers exactly what the protocols are. But i should have found out.

What i could have done was construct a vector protection area and if my horse was in it a few weeks before, all we would have to do, after initial notification procedures to State Vet, was to have the horse tested. And we would have been fine to travel. Without having been in the vector protection area beforehand, the horse could be incubating the disease right now.....
But, we learn. I will now study the protocols and get my vector protection area built pronto, long before next Season....

The stop over in Beaufort is for horses which leave the CT free zone, race in Gauteng or KZN from normal stabling and then want to return to CT. That is in order to pass the incubation time outside of the free zone. From a vector protection area, we can travel direct to CT from anywhere, provided that we have followed the protocols and obtained approval from state Vet.

A vector protection area is a stable or stables which is/are midge proof through netting and ceilings etc and the horse may not leave the area daily, before 07h00 and must be back inside by 16h00. This must be approved by state vet and certain procedures and admin trails must be followed. As I said earlier...I still have a lot to learn in terms of the finer details.

If we went the Beaufort route with our runner, we would only be free to leave well after the race....

.....but are these once hyped up and very high R&D costed test kits being used by the state vet.....because in theory they should test the horse before it leaves the stable.....test it again before it goes into the Beaufort West holding vector....and for safety sake test again on the AHS free zone border near Cape Town....
