Is however disappointing that only 74 entrants on a 9 race card for your "season"...

Rowing in with these :-
R4, Apollo Star, despite the drift. Down in class, whilst drawn 6/6, shouldn't be as difficult as being drawn 15/16 (like last time out). Run prior to that was a good second to White River who ran second in the Cape Guineas.
R6, Shufoog, admittedly a filly taking on the boys, but she must be showing them something back home for them to keep throwing her into the deep end being only a one time winner. Last time out she may have been done in by the draw, drawn relatively low and raced at best up the middle where no one really kicked on. Admittedly today the draw may be her downfall again, but hopefully by then the jocks will know where the better going is, and JP can make the necessary adjustment.
R8, Lanark, at the weights shouldn't beat Brave Move, but just feel she is the one who will make further improvement at this level.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 6. I prefer Mujaafy. I think we have a false favourite in that race.

Race 1: Twin Falls has had the benefit of 2 grass gallops and is a speedy filly. We don’t know what we are up against but we are expecting a good debut.
Race 2: Lanza is showing good speed at home. He has had one grass gallop so may just need this run slightly, but expecting a good run from him as well. Include in bipots. The two Snaith Capt Als have had the benefit of a run so should be respected. Flying Arrow very well bred and cost bombs, but I can’t have him at odds on.
Race 3 Weak Workriders maiden. Green Archer should be a penalty kick. Rebels Burst next best.
Race 4: I will go with the 3yos Doublemint and Bernie to fight this out with a preference for Doublemint.
Race 5: Open race. Little between Cortada, Western Storm and Arabian Song. Handicapper has been harsh on Metorite.
Race 6: Shufoog was thrown in the deep end last time and not disgraced. She looks the right one here. Stablemate Mujaafy and Speedpoint are the two dangers.
Race 7: Tricky race. I’m not sure if Fourie can make 52kg, but I like Powergrid here. Sergeant Hardy and Lord Balmoral must be respected. Horse Guards is well in here but will probably need the run. Percival is capable at best but not the most consistent.
Race 8: Another very open race. Field for exotics. Bon Bon should run a better race today- The one to beat is Brave Move.
Race 9: Snaith has a very strong hand here and not much between his two. Capaill is better than her last run. Ladysmith has scope for improvement. Ballroom Dance has been running against stronger and could surprise.

If this is the case then they need to have less racemeetings in this province. Poor show for a Saturday meeting. Gauteng and KZN would fill these races properly. But I also wonder if this has anything to do with the water crisis.
