Louis you really are an apologist and sadly, an apologist that cannot read.

Louis, I think what most on the forum are alluding to is that this is a major news trending story. Irrespective of the allegations levelled against Markus Jooste and whether he is guilty(or not),he is a major player in the horseracing industry and by association the industry role players should at least issue some sort of press release to the effect that they are aware of the ongoing allegations relating to MJ and will issue a further statement once additional information comes to hand.

Personally, I don’t understand why it’s so important for some to have the news published in racing’s media. You have heard it on ABC and mainstream news. You will just read about the little something you already know. My sixpence.

Agree with Mac.
Mayfair has a manager, who probably doesn't want to go on public record right now. They don't owe anyone in racing an explanation. The NHA probably following in the media like everyone else. Of course there is going to be fall out, but all these demands of what other people "should" do is rubbish. My sixpence. (I see rands no good anymore)

because its their job - this is the biggest story EVER ti hit Racing - forget Sea Cottage etc - This is a story that will affect the whole industry so why hot publish? There is also another big owner in the board of Steinhoff South Africa - How will this affect Racing? Well that is the journalists job to call and find out what's going on -I'm sure the Racing Media have the Racing Manager on speed-dial - Call him and ask him if the resignation will affect his principal's involvement in sales, racing etc - Rather get a "no comment" than pretending nothing happened. There are print versions of The Citizen and Sporting Post so it is presumptuous to assume that all Racing folk read ABC - The vast majority use the Citizen as form guide and they will be reading that and wondering about the future of Mayfair horses - Maybe the man is innocent if so not publishing is actually conceding that he is guilty as you have not TRIED to get his side or that of his Racing Manager or Riaan to convey a truth.

i also wrote a little 25 years ago and I think reporting on the news accurately , however unpleasant, is the only thing that should matter to a publication. The actions of Racing Media could be used in a lecture for 1st year scribes on Ethics

I’m not saying that the racing media should not publish, I’m just saying why it should be so important for you when you already know. Now I understand that you were a journalist and still have the passion
. Yes, I agree, the racing media chose not to be the first to print, which must be a rubbish journalism strategy.

Years ago there was a journo for the Beeld - "scoop" Louw - Etienne - He works at computaform now - In those days we all wanted a scoop - Your job is not to speculate but to provide facts so rather present the facts and ask for comment - This is a general situation not specfic to this case - Some might know that their are rumors why the transport company lost its contract in the Cape(I've been told a story that is very disturbing) Have any publications called Cape Racing and asked why the contract has been terminated? Did anyone ever ask Van Vuuren about the rumor he made his money through some software he designed? Has their been any follow up as to the cause of the fire at the NHRA Lab - Has anyone called Phumelela and asked them why they choose to start Racing so late on the Highveld on summer? New trainers appear and yet it takes weeks for the punter to find out something about them - These are things journos should be doing instead of pasting copy from overseas sites on horses and stallions who the punter has very little interest in..
