I told you guys four years ago that this industry is corrupt, every dog gets his day in the sun ,now how about an audit on Phumelela and let's see the fuckers there how they been stealing, we been waiting for this day ,they stand infront of the TV like they are the chosen few. Sit back and enjoy the show.

We admired this man and he has let us down. It appears that all that glitters is not Gold after all!!

I too am a CA(SA) and really disappointed at what he has done. He has made investors poor. These investors include the man in the street!!!

I remember Steinhoff moving JD group off their balance sheet a day before releasing earnings back in 2014. Clearly got greedy, there's a fine line between aggressiveness and evasion. Looks like the line was crossed years ago.

Am joining the discussion late...MJ will go to trial and cut a deal..BLAME the poor number crunching guys...and try all the tricks he learnt from the major rogues in South Africa...

Just as an aside which stables in South Africa will be hurting the most .... or changing ownership directly from himself to Mayfair protects him from losing everything in horse racing in SA

This is what I have to say about (some) opinions on this forum and the general SA public. When a man is flying, we bow to him. We grace him with the title of Mr... Or Sir. Or the Esteemed. Nobody asks questions when money is flying around, we just step aside and respect automatically. This part, I actually don't have a problem with.

A similar owner comes to mind, who not too long ago, passed on. When he was winning, everyone was speculating to the amazing brain behind the man. Someone once told me he invented the Chip Card, and was super super smart. The day the man was accused of fraud, that very same person said "papa wag vir jou"... How the tune got changed. This part I do have a problem with.

FYI
Mr Jooste was one of my legends growing up. I took note of his colours when I was 18 years old (our giant, lion tamer etc) and always wanted to experience success like him. I would admire his sense of speech, his attire as well as the man that he was to the public eye. I bought my first horse when I was 19, because it was the start of a journey aligned to his success. I followed his professional growth over the decade and internally wished I was the chosen one to be his racing manager (yet I am nowhere close to the knowledge and competence of Mr Brugman).

This ordeal is a shocker, and here again, we are all too quick to change tune and kick sand in a mans face. So I ask the question, is our respect for "esteemed" people nothing but a façade, until a crime is committed? If so, I caution all our senior players in racing and beyond to be careful of us, as we are no different to Shakespearean villains.

Good luck Mr Jooste, the judicial process will decide your fate.

I just want to say thank you for gracing us with amazing champions over the years, and through whichever way, inspired a young man to reach for the stars too!

press i think the issue is that when one admires and respects a person of stature and success and it turns out that the success and stature was based upon a lie then people get very upset as their respect proves to be misplaced and then the sand throwing starts

Press what do you say to people who are not in racing and who have been affected by this mans deviousness through there pension funds? These are people who have contributed for years and in many cases will be reliant on this to survive. It is these people that Jooste and his cronies have defrauded. Let us not be romantic about this this guy deserves to be jailed for this and you should be ashamed if you think that he deserves any sympathy
