Kenilworth Bluegums : You Decide.
7 years 7 months ago
When the Kenilworth Bluegums were recently cut down it was suggested to me that one of the main reasons was to accomodate a marquee at future major meetings at the course.
This marquee has now started to take shape & the 'floor area' has already been laid. Clanners will note from the two accompanying photos its proximity to where the trees once stood. Once the marquee 'walls' have been erected together with whatever guy ropes and/or attachments normally accompany these constructions it will become apparent that this structure probably could not have been placed there if the trees were allowed to remain.
You can be the judge..........

Absolute proof and there can be no doubt that the trees were cut to accommodate the sponsors.

Its OK Thankfully in life there is a thing called Karma .
Lanzerac Hotel had their chance and are still paying for it as of now Hotel still closed .
'Irreplaceable' paintings destroyed in Lanzerac hotel fire
2017-05-28 17:11
Cape Town - Firefighters battled on Sunday morning to extinguish a fire which broke out earlier at the Lanzerac Hotel & Spa in Stellenbosch.
"It's so sad," Winston Cowie, the chief executive officer, said around 04:00 as he watched the flames.
Netwerk24 reported that the fire broke out at 03:00 on Sunday.
The fire started in a building right next to the centuries-old Lanzerac mansion.
Parts of the reception, some of the living rooms and the hotel's restaurant, The Governor's Hall, were in flames.
"I can’t even describe how I feel. There is a closet inside, imported from France, worth more than R600 000 - now gone. The paintings; irreplaceable.
"We are lucky that it is happening at this building, which was built between 1926 and 1927, and not the mansion. We prevented the fire from spreading there. We then tried to get everyone to safety. Thank goodness that it only burned at one place."
Responding to a question about the security of the building, Cowie said he could not even think about it at this stage.
"Our biggest concern was everyone's safety and that the fire be extinguished."
Other accommodation would be arranged for guests.
A visitor said there had earlier been an explosion.
The cause of the fire still has to be investigated.
All I can say is WC Racing Directors and CTS - Hold on to your hats - Nature is on its way for allowing this for a few rand.

i am really shocked. My whole life whenever i have gone to the course i see people sitting under the trees, that was a part of the course. It is disgustind, how can anybody chop down trees like that just to make space for one day? Next it will be the rest of the trees on the otherside. Its all about money, shareholders, dividends, gravy train rides of employment... i wonder if these same peolple who make these ruthless desicions even care about horses and their well being after racing.
Disgusting
Disgusting
