Found it interesting to note that Delpech has never ridden at Durbanville before. He makes the long trip up there tomorrow and it's obvious who he's going there for.

Last Winter ;)

We have had a fair amount of rain the past few days but forecast is clear for tomorrow. The sting should be out the ground.
Race 1: We have Princess Vicky running, and unfortunately she has pulled another wide draw. She has come on from her first run and I am expecting a good run tomorrow. The one to beat is Cape Charlotte. Valentines Girl and Shades of Pink have also shown ability.
Race 2: Weak field- any result possible. Scorpion Queen, Woodland Fairy and Elegancia should get you through the bipot.
Race 3: William the Brave ran a fair comeback race over shorter last time, and if not for the draw would be a confident selection. Giant Flag ran an excellent race from a wide draw last time and has scope for further improvement. Zanzibarian, Silva Fox and a few others with chances.
Race 4: Another tricky handicap- no selection
Race 5: Glen Kotzen has a strong hand here and all three of his must be included. Evies Light can be difficult but she won a nice race last time and could follow up. Foxy Princess is way down in the ratings and should now be competitive.
Race 6: Another race to go as wide as you can. Earth Hour is a weak selection.
Race 7: As the breeder, I will be shouting for Last Winter. The handicapper gave him a hefty penalty for his last win and this is a stiff test at the weights, but he oozes class and hopefully up to the task. Mambo Mine is well handicapped if at his best. Not much between the consistent Captain Courteous and Star Chestnut. Olivander and Alaadel also in with a shout if the favourite fails.
Race 8: Romantic Crusade ran a better race last time, but a tough ask from such a wide draw this trip. A very competitive maiden with Glen Kotzen and Candice Robinson stables both strong hands but the draws make it tricky. All of 1,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,12,16 needed for the pick 6.

Taking a chance with the patent :-

R3) Zanzibarian X (R6) Kapen Pride X (R7) Last Winter

Zanzibarian moved up smartly last time out but hit a flat spot late in the race. Should strip a lot fitter and from draw 2 should be involved in the finish.

Kapen Pride is racing fit and looks a smart sort in the making. Probably better suited to further but if kept handy, could skip away and be difficult to peg back.

Last Winter, two from two over the distance, feel one on the stable companions will ensure a decent enough pace, and his class will pull him through.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Unbelievable that he’s never ridden there before, wonder why?

Harder to get spares in Cape Town?

The best horse doesn't always win the race.

Not sure who is braver, you or the horse, from that draw?
