Cold and overcast, not much wind.
With so many horses returning from breaks and many without the benefit of a grass gallop, play with caution. Being on course to see them will be a big advantage today.
Race 1: Trip to Ibiza needs to repeat good debut effort. Saltire fair debut, should be in the finish. Would not be surprised to see a first timer win this.
Race 2: Counting Stars is consistent but needs to improve to have a chance of winning. Shadow Warrior the best of the older horses but wide draw. Sark impressive on debut and is first choice but needs to overcome the draw. Photocopy should be in the shakeup. All of Max Power, Doublemint and Scarlet Rebel have claims but wide draws.
Race 3: I think the favourite is at a stupid price and I'm looking elsewhere. Fresnaye is my selection at the weights. Libra was fancied last time in a strong race, and should be respected on bottom weight. If Leaves of Grass doesn't need the run she will be closing late.
Race 4: Sequined, Nanna Anna and It is what it is have run recently and are well in at the weights. Oh Susanna and Too Phat to Fly will be there if ready. I can't have the classy Magical Wonderland at these weights.
Race5: Gold Standard may find this a bit sharp although he's the class horse. If fit enough, Table Bay and Always in Charge can compete. Silicone Valley has his issues, but has the benefit of a recent run and a good draw. La Favourari is another that warrants respect. Milton will ensure a good gallop, and they must not let him get too far ahead as he doesn't stop.
Race 6: Final Judgement has had a grass gallop and if she can use her gate speed to overcome the draw has a winning chance. Gimme Six has beaten her before, and is the one to beat. Goodtime Gal ran a good sprint last time and will be in the first three. Captains Flame has ability but did not do well in Durban. If fit can challenge.
Race 7: None have raced recently. Al Mariachi and Eyes Wide Open are leading Guineas contenders but have a fair bit to do at these weights. Woljayrine and Pack Leader are my preferred two. Speed point has run his best races over 1000m but has ability and the plum draw- big danger if he can keep rolling. Kasimir also well in at the weights.
Race 8: I think that one of the improving 3yos will win this. Steel Rose ran a cracker last time and is my selection, but all of 5,6,7,9 can improve to win. Triple Explosion is the best of the older horses.

R3, at the weight turnaround with Leaves Of Grass (28/10), the value must surely lie with Prancing (16/1 into 8/1).
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I agree she is very well in at the weights especially with the 2.5kg claim. My concern with her is her tendency to lose ground at the start and she may be better over further.

If, and it's a big if, she gets away on terms, I'm hoping Balloo takes her to the front and tries to use the weight allowance to his advantage.

If Sommersonne is half as good as her half-sister, then she'll put up a bold showing
