I agree with Easy. There are many good read post here . But bottom answer Nothing.

It is just like any other day in South Africa - We have a constitution , we live in a democracy , but we have no Leaders , or should I say very litle leadership.

An example that comes to mind in that the RA was taken over by LW and his knights in shinning Armour around 2006 . Ten years later their membership is in tatters , they give away free subscription to a failed product , now subsidizing Shares . Bottom line they never listen , its a closed door policy , where AGMs are steam rolled once a year and if you have something to say wit until next year.

That is just an example wrt the RA , what about the NHA ? Phm ? GC ? WC Racing ? TBA ? and lets even go to the Caterers on the Race Course .

Warren and I promise you I was not taking the piss......there is nothing we can do.

Along the way we can fight small battles like boycotting the RA or buying sportingjpost elsewhere but the future is clear for all to see.

its rotten from the inner core outwards.

they all on the take and it might not be a brown envelope but it certainly is a case of non challenge or support in other ways.

same names same relationships same old same old.

Garrick, you always mischievous, but we love you. ;)

You better tell the lads in Ngong that the days of Betamax are over.

Dave please don't take it so personal . your efforts are appreciated I am sure.

I would like to put to the members of ABC a hypothetical situation to see what kind of response if any we get.

Lets say its time to stop all the bickering and moaning .

The operators suggest that we have a series on 239 on a debate or suggestions on how we are to improve horse racing in South Africa .

On the Panel is :-

Phumelela - Vee Moodley
Telly Track - Rob Scott
RA - Larry
Gold Circle - Graeme Hawkins
Western Cape Racing - Vidrik Thurling
TBA - Lee Scribante
CTS - Adrian Todd
Vets - Baker and Mc Veigh
Media Phum - Robert Gardner

Lets call it the other side we are allowed representatives from :

Punter -
Owners -
Breeders -
Trainers -
Media -
ABC -
Sporting Post -
Formgrids -

Question :- Who would you suggest to Represent the others live on TV?

Do you think this will have any impact at all ?

Will this improve racing in South Africa ? and so on .

Any other questions .

Hi Sorry about that as I said lets make it Hypothetical , I left off Bookmakers so just the point of the exercise .

The main reason I am trying to put this into a box is that around 2005 / 2006 I attended a 2 day conference at Emperors Palace . I am not sure if anyone from ABC attended. Anyway the main aim was to bring all role players of the industry together over two days and make presentation to all. If I remember correctly it was arranged by Racing SA. It was recorded via TellyTrack .

Each role player was given an opportunity to show their current positions , give financial information and where to from here. It was well attended and although as an Owner I walked out saying I need rocks in my head to get seriously involved. Never the less the rest is history.

Soon after the conference I requested minutes of the two day . I was told they are not ready
even though the whole seminar was recorded. Here we are in 2017 and I am still looking for those minutes to tick off what was said / promised as to what has been done.

I now presume that minutes were never done therefore a complete waste of time.

So my answer to my own question would be No this would have no bearing on improving Racing in South Africa. We would just discuss or thrash out points and there would be no follow up.

That's completely wrong. All gambling is not in decline. What's your source? Brandy and coke?

"The generation of GGR increased by 4.3% from R20,9 billion in FY13 to R 21,8
billion in FY14, by 9.6% to R 23,9 billion in FY15 and by 8.8% to R26.0 billion in
FY16. A total amount of R 25 985 119 587 in GGR was generated during FY16.
During FY16 casinos accounted for the highest GGR generated, being 70.2% as
compared to other gambling modes."
