Horseracing is corrupt - eNCA news

Did anyone catch the insert on horse racing currently on the eNCA news loop? I am not sure what the message was because it started off by saying that the sport was one of the most dangerous to participants both human and equine and ended off by implying that it was corrupt. What was weird was that the participants were filmed in Port Elizabeth, but the clippings continually showed the Wylie Hall/Legislate July interference. A few PE "personalities" were shown and they had the ex jock Deon Barnard on saying that the game was rigged and the "big players" influenced the results. Carl Hewitson was listed as a "racecourse employee". The biggest suprise to me was the Phumelela guy Passerini stating that he could not say that the game wasn't corrupt after much umming and clearing of the throat. Unbelievable.

Frankel was not corrupt.

He knew that if he smashed the opposition in every race then he would not race for too long

He did just that and today he just strolls around his paddock and you know the rest of the story

If what I am reading is true, I am amazed. How can a man employed by a JSE listed company, say on national television that the core product that his company sells, is corrupt? Surely to goodness there has never been a clearer case of bringing the company into disrepute? Heads would roll in any other industry.

There is nothing new in the eNCA insert regarding horse racing being corrupt. Most in the horse racing industry and outside it, believe it to be crooked.

The reality is that nothing has been done to seriously deal with the corruption and dishonesty. We have Phumelela, Gold Circle and Kenilworth Racing that do not care about the corruption or dishonesty. As long as they continue to get their projected turnover it makes no difference to them. The horse racing police force is weak and are kept in check by Phumelela, Gold Circle and Kenilworth Racing. So much has been done wrong by Phumelela and Gold Circle over the years and nothing has been said or done by the horse racing police force. It is the trainers, jockeys and owners that get slapped on the wrist. It becomes worse when you read that the police force is culling its investigative employees and that there is only 1 [one hundred less ninety nine] investigator for the whole of South Africa.

Why would anybody be surprised at an industry which has an easily manipulated handicap system and regulated(sic) ....NOT.....,,by a division of the operators AND REMUNERATED by them

(Like the taxi associations sponsoring the traffic police)

To the punter it's corrupt when the horse that you have backed gets beaten

When the punter wins then horse racing is heaven on earth

You can't have it both ways and if you truly believe that's its corrupt then walk away and ask magi to sign you up to his bowling team or spend the weekend with Craig P chatting up the birds in Durban or go on a session with Countrymember if you live in the north.
