.....was a keen player in my youth.....and stopped following the game when they dumped ESPN off the Mutlichoice bouquets.....read up this guy's bio and surprised it took this long for him to reach the majors.....it is reported that he bats ambidextrous and can be used as a switch hitter...

What a coincidence that he's playing for a team called "Pirates"

Gift was my roommate on and off for 5 years in the South African national team. He was a switch hitter only for a couple years then changed back to a right hander. That's the reason it took him 9 years in the minor leagues because his bat held him back. He has the best glove/fielding in the pirates organization. Great story, his mother was a domestic worker at randburg mets baseball club, him and his little brother grew up in a one bed room at the back of the clubhouse of the baseball field. His off to a great start getting a hit in his first at bat! Then last night went 3-3 meaning got another 3 hits in 3 chances, could not have happened to a better person. Big ups to him. Will be a movie soon!! Wish him the best of luck and long career in the BIGS!
