Lol you beat me to the post.

De kock got 13-10 first timer against 7-10 stable companion and they cant reach him ?
Maybe try send a message ?

Or have a website trainers can log into and give first timer comments and perhaps get a subsidy from the turf club for agreeing to do so ? It can be real time so as comment is posted its live. Thereby nullifying ridiculous argument of Sean Tarry that he'd rather not give comments because some people may get privileged info first.

I don't know why punters think it is a right to receive info from trainers. I'm just saying.

How do you bet on unraced horses? Besides breeding.

Perhaps punters should not punt the race. Stand for something or you will fall for everything.

In every country where there is greater transparency in racing the game is stronger.

Mac if you read the article on another thread surely you can see the need to be open and honest. As they say in Japan the customer( punter) comes first and that's the bottom line. If you want the game to be seen as open and honest then there is no need not to let the people that fund the game know.

actions speak louder than words ... I personally think that these comments(words) are a waste of time BUT Barrier trials(actions) is the correct approach and should be extended to all horses that have been off for more than 3 months - That way the punter has an idea and the trainer does not have a problem with his owner as it is a rule but our NHRA will never do it because they don't have the resources unless they go around to schools and find some CADETS to run the trials!!

We have read lots of similar threads, and unfortunately we have seen and read the brunt of when "trainers get it wrong" - not surprising they do not want to pass comment.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

And what I really thought that added value to transparency was announcing the mass of the horse. Cape Town used to do this but stopped because of risks. The Sporting Post even used to publish the horses' masses for their respective races.

The Snaith, Bass, Crawford and Ramsden stables (mmm all cape town) have a completely transparent approach, giving previews. None have ever been criticised.

At the risk of flogging a dead horse, I think we all agree that information is king .... the issue here is that imo trainer comments are to be taken with a pinch of salt - not that I think they will deliberately distort the facts, but rather that these comments are mostly based on opinion .... so the best way to provide useful information is barrier trials (and also to provide as much information as possible - e.g. mass) - then the punter can judge for himself and not be subject to what the trainer divulges.

As far as I know, barrier trials are said to be 'too expensive' and logistically not easy too introduce, but if the aim is to 'grow' punter participation, it is a no-brainer imo - to be compared to the concept of desalination of sea-water - in a water scarce country it is the only way forward no matter the cost - but no we rather spend the millions on Nkandla and futile bids (e.g. Commonwealth Games) :(

It surprises me that someone like Marcus Jooste who strives to improve the game does not have a website with his runners comments.
He is not a punter and is the kind of man that would love to improve racing in any way.
While certainly not expected, it would be a massive gesture to push the industry towards transparency.
