No point in comparing imo,but Bob please put up Frankel's Guineas win video to remind people just what he did in that race.
Instant goosebumps!

Hello Lads, I was at the Dubai World Cup over the weekend and seeing Arrogate in the flesh (& so close) was an honour
Arrogate is a machine but I am probably still in the Frankel camp

For me its very difficult to compare horses to each other unless you have a point of common reference. Personally I thought weak field or not Arrogates run in the DWC was outstanding..and then Frankel was also very special in all his races he ran..these horses are the cream of their crop worldwide and watching them is what keeps people watching racing and buying and training horses to win.

....I agree difficult to compare horses each with different talents and on different surfaces and over different ground or from different era....for me Frankel's 2000 English Guineas win where he sprinted the Newmarket straight mile was unforgettable.....and although he recorded Gr1 wins over the 10 furlong trip....I still rate him as a top miler....as the wins over further were engineered by the trainer placing pacemakers to ensure he got the trip....as a racing purist to rate a horse any higher to be an all time great.....you gotta win a real classic like the Derby....and for this reason I rate Sea the Stars a better performer than Frankel....
....and although I am not a big fan of dirt racing seeing the Arrogate wins makes him exceptional as he can win from any way he is ridden which makes him truly versatile....Japan has a Derby on dirt....get him there and win it....then he will be a World Champion...

Frankel was awesome. Turf races, unlike the dirt are not usually won by big distances or totally dominated . Dirt on the other hand often sees huge margins and massive performances followed by dismal ones.
Frankel only looked in danger once but managed to do the business, mostly in such a style we are not used to seeing on the turf. A bit like what Horse Chestnut did in SA.
The impressive performance in the World Cup was incredible but what makes Arrogate legit is the beating of California Chrome when arguably there was no excuse. CC was the real deal so a good yardstick.
Despite Frankels dominant performances he never really had to face another world beater. Good horses sure, but nothing that you could use to put the issue beyond doubt.

if i recall the horses frankel beat in his career won between them almost 50 group one races ..he is without doubt the best horse i will ever see in my lifetime and you can keep the american sand horses ..only the likes of ribot sea bird nijinsky brigidiar gerard mill reef dancing brave and sea the stars can come close to him over many decades of racing..
