so let's who is not bothering to raid...
Bela Bela - well probably does not want to run against colts again
W Baron - gone abroad
Marinesco - off form in his own province so best he tries Natal where he did so well
Gold Standard - better prospects against his own age in Natal so why risk him here
Cape Speed - way off form so why bother
Baritone - would be bashed so no reason to travel here
The Conglomerate - had his big win and poor last run at home
Macduff- no puff in this class
Mambo Mine - needs gelding maybe because his form is gone..
Captain America - Rising 7 now and has yet to win further than a mile so why bother
These above all ran in the Met this year
15 starters and the other 5 are nominated for this race .. so who else should be raiding with top form from Kzn or Cape Town?(Baring 3yr olds as they have more prestigious Stallion and Broodmare races waiting in KZN)

The conditions of the race(it is not a handicap) rules out many horses as they have no paper chance of beating Legal Eagle so they are racing for places which I suppose could entice one or two...

I am not just referring to the Champions Challenge Mr H, I would love to see them CT and Durban yards come and compete in all races from 1000m up to our long distance races for the Autumn season. The money is available so why not take a chance.

It don't just need to be class horses in action, horses that don't make the top grade in those provinces can come up here and who knows, maybe the Vaal or challenging Turffontein straight might just be up their ally.
