Hollywood Apologises for SunMet 2017 Performance

HOLLYWOODBETS MEDIA RELEASE: SUN MET 2017
We at Hollywoodbets apologise to all our online customers affected by the system issues experienced on The Sun Met day – Saturday 28th January 2017.

We always put an emphasis on service delivery and efficiency and spend months preparing for big race days such as the Sun Met and Vodacom July. We always have our full Team on site on these special days along with outside resources, and even with all these hands on-deck, we just didn’t cut it on Met Day.

Along with recent system upgrades which we have subsequently discovered had caused the issues, we were overwhelmed by the amount of customers logging in to the website, a number that far exceeded our wildest predictions.

We began a critical appraisal on Saturday evening, have been flat out since then and are rectifying these issues, as well as working on the structure of our systems so we can make sure that your Hollywoodbets betting experience is as seamless and efficient as possible.

We thank all our clients who chose to support our business on Sun Met day, and apologize unreservedly for letting you down.

Thanks Dev for feedback and we also try to ensure we can meet demand and recently upgraded to a server with more capacity and its a nightmare when you have a crash and extremly frustrating for non IT guys and punters
I am sure your loss was bigger than the punters and you probably saved me a few Bob
We actually had record posts for the Met as normally the July is our biggest week so lets see if the July can break more records?

Dev, i don't think i really complained,while it was frustrating others did and i saw no value jumping on the bandwagon.
i was just dissapointed when i placed some bets on sunday, some bets i could'nt place,
the reason is simple ... if i leave your site to go to ABC or any other site, i'm fucked!
'Cos when i get back to H/W and place my bet, i have to log on again,and the time it takes means i can,like saturday, forget about the Bipot,could'nt get a p6 on. Ffs, ask BOB how he does it!
When i log onto ABC, i am logged on the whole #!$!@ day
Surely this can't be too difficult?

Hi Johnny, encryption of your betting account has to set up differently than other websites for your own security

Sure most bookie accounts will be set up to log you out after a certain amount of time?

You also have save option on your phone ?
When i go into Hollywood after some time i only have to click box and submit
The user name and password is saved exactly the same ad ABC

I am sure no-one knows less than me about these (internet) matters but what is frustrating is when i leave the Hollywood site and go back a few mins later i am still logged in
Now after doing my selections when i submit,I find i have to be logged in,screen disappears and
i must start over again,often with not enough time
I do tend to make last min selections

Btw i rarely use my phone

After all the drama on Saturday I still believe Hollywood is the best around and i will always use hollywoodbets.

Today Tab-online have no "all clear" 23 mins after the 2nd race .......and thats on a good day!

You want to bet on the 'dont repeat' bit Rob?? Search through the threads for July day, Queens Plate, summer cup.... Same old same old. It is my opinion that 'upgrades' is a cheap fall guy. In my company we have code and deployment freezes 6 weeks before 'special occasions' to ensure we get maximum benefit....and goodwill... Allowing upgrades and any changes deployed into your Production environment just before peak trading times is really amateurish. HB's head IT wallah should be hauled over the carpet....in my opinion.

Quite correct, we would also put a deployment freeze or at least have our systems load tested to ensure uptime during Big promotions or even just because one can nevertake for granted logins from players? surely their login servers as well as other servers are load balanced to avoid this sort of thing happening? these things unfortunatley happen with online systems, Database locks over loaded services and routers. Im sure the DEV teams especially the backoffice team have taken a beating.
