There's an are article on the sporting post website describing how "The Punter" was treated at the gallops.

that was my impression when i saw them crowding outside where the draw was done,nothing unusual

No biggy as they came to see the horses gallop and not to eat. Could have gone to some cafe for a bite if they that hungry. Owners should be given preference as they are the ones who invest the most financially in it. As for the security guards been rude, well thats typical, give somebody a little bit of power and they abuse it. Happens all the time no matter where you go.

Apparently the punters contribute to the Stakes pot due to take outs from the wagers they take. No tote, no stakes so to say.

Hence my earlier comment, no gambling in the Middle East by the general public but the rich flaunting their wealth and the peasants going bananas to see their horses run....

same with football, the frivolously rich owners charging the die hards exorbitant prices to watch.
