Carded Runners vs Live Runners

While on holiday I decided to stop at a betting establishment that I was not too familiar with.

I sat around mulling over whether to place a bet or not so before doing so I read-up on the rules that were on a poster displayed on the wall.

It states:
- Carded runners = 14 to 20
- Places paid = 4

Greyville 26/12/2016
- Race 4 = 14 carded runners.

The horse I place a bet on runs 4th, much to my satisfaction! B) :woohoo:

I wait a few minutes for the race to clear and try collect my ticket.

The lady at the cashier says:
"There are only 12 runners so only 3places are paid"

I left the establishment surprised and abit shocked at what had transpired. :S

Later I was told that the establishment only takes "live runners" into account and that a reserve runner isn't regarded as a "carded runner"...

I've supplied screenshots to support my claim.

Should I feel aggrieved?

Did you not bet at the live prices ? Does the race conditions remain the same if you place bets after the carded runners are scratched ?

AJ,the 4 places / 14 runners are only if all 14 + runners have carded jocks. If say 12 have jocks and horses 13+14 have reserve as jocks, its only 3 places... im sure this is the case here...

Majority of my punting is done at Hollywood & WSB. Never had a problem...

Actually felt rather clueless afterward though. B)
