TAB this needs some explaining

Went to local Tab to get computerform for SUNDAY - Durban
Had an e/way R 100 on Fairview R 1 # 2 Shady world .... at the off paying R 3.00 win R 1.90 place.

Horse runs 2nd, no problem, I should just about break square at R 190.00

WELL after the race is run, still showing R 1, 90 on the win / place monitor - when Alistair announced R 1.00 a place for SHADY WORLD. I was gobsmacked from 1, 90 to 1.00 IMPOSSIBLE.

I thought of taking a screen shot, but sadly didnt - my mistake.

did anyone record R 1 to confirm my facts ? Can ayone fast rewind, their PVR back to R1 to confirm.

reminds of a lotto Xmas draw they had about 15 years ago. The announcer who reads out the balls as they drop called the number before the ball came out of the machine. People complained and the lotto said that it had something to do with the sound and the picture The lotto just had 8 roll overs and this past Wednesday it had to be won. Guess what? Yes it was won. Coincidence or.......

No one happened to record R1 today ?

So lets be transparent ..... There is a win/place dividend trend on Tab website... make that available 30 seconds before race close(after the race and then a final 30 seconds after race closes)... and cut foreign bets 2 minutes before off time... why does Phumelela want to create the illusion of DISHONESTY when it is so simple to destroy that notion? Technology can dispel rumours or prove them so best the operators use that to their advantage.

Here here, couldn't have said it better myself mr H, but will anything change ? Most definitely NOT.

Elivis this the last Durban race as they were almost all in...........both win and place
shortened..................The fav was paying R1.10 after the tote closed.......... :evil: ALL places shortened 1st 2nd and 3rd............that's with the fav running unplaced!!!!!!!!!!!!

No explanation needed Elvis, this legal "theft/fraud" has occurred for many years now. Cast your mind back to when our pools were opened to outside jurisdictions to bet upon. We had a period where weird and wonderful things happened AFTER THE RACE WAS RUN. At the time Phumelela came up with some original reasons for this - who remembers the mysterious aussie punter who had the ability to predict winners on an uncanny basis and make massive changes to the displayed dividend as the race started and the declared final dividend? My personal favourite was the devious announcement on one memorial occasion that stated something along the lines that oriental punters often bet large amounts on "lucky numbers", and this was the rationale behind 20/1 shots paying R3-70 on the tote. Really!

I took a decision during this time not to bet anything but exotics on the tote. It was clear then, as it is clear now THAT BETS ARE BEING PLACED DURING AND AFTER THE RACE HAS RUN. Now this may not occur in every race, but it definitely occurs on a regular basis. I tend not to enjoy playing a game of chance when the rewards are affected in this way, and frankly, remain amazed that punters accept this inequitable scenario.

I think in fairness to the local racing public they should close overseas bets 1 minute before the race. This "late overseas money" has been too convenient an excuse.

Pity they don't refresh before the off...they would be tipping the trifecta to us, unless something happens in those dark minutes between when they cross the line and when the "new" dividends are shown. The 2nd horse places changing makes sense because 6.80/4.80 would be spotted, but the three that hit all shorten. This is just conspiracy theory but the operator should crush that by showing the truth because there should be nothing to hide and then explanations will clear up any mystery.

Now why don't they? That's a cool question.

That is very odd that the first three past the post all shortened after the race.Did only those three shorten or did all the horses running odds shorten?

Sorry I didn't keep the after race figures.........I do know that Harry da Wheels was going to pay R1.10 for a place ( after showing R2.10 just before the jump, ( should it have placed!!!!!!!! ( as I was going to do places, but luckily didn't).....

Answers we sure need......will they be forthcoming ?
