BIG BROWN DRAWS ONE!!!
17 years 2 months ago
BIG BROWN will break from stall one in Saturday's Belmont Stakes as he bids to become the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years.
The Boundary colt has already notched impressive victories in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes and he will face nine rivals as he bids to emulate Affirmed, who took all three Classics in 1978.
Big Brown is unbeaten in five career starts and is 4-11 with William Hill but connections suffered a scare last week when their star performer developed a slight quarter crack to his left front hoof.
However, Big Brown enjoyed an impressive final workout on Tuesday, leaving trainer Rick Dutrow as confident as ever.
"I feel as good as I can possibly feel about Big Brown," said Dutrow.
"I feel very good. I was not expecting to see anything other than what we saw."
Japanese raider Casino Drive is viewed as the main threat to Big Brown's Triple Crown bid and he has drawn stall five in the 1m4f heat.
Kentucky Derby third Denis Of Cork will start from four while the Churchill Downs fourth Tale Of Ekati will be in seven.
Preakness second and third, Macho Again and Icabad Crane, also try their luck again and will break from stalls three and 10 respectively.
Ready's Echo, representing last year's winning trainer Todd Pletcher, Da'Tara, Anak Nakal and maiden Guadalcanal complete the line-up.

I sincerely hope that he is 100% sound.
It would be tragic if they've pushed him to have a 'crack' at the historic Triple Crown, over his well-being. I'm not saying that's what they have done, and I wish the Horse and connections well.
May the best Horse win on the day.
Respectfully, Jim.
